Unless you live under a rock, you are probably already well aware of the release of World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria Patch 5.2. This newest patch has been going strong on live servers for a few weeks now and besides for a few hiccups along the way (hotfixes incoming!), things seem to be running pretty smoothly. Now that I've had a chance to check out and experience most of what this patch has to offer, I am firmly of the opinion that this patch rocks.
In fact I am so smitten with Patch 5.2 that I might even go so far as to say that this is the best patch World of Warcraft has seen since before Cataclysm. Crazy? Maybe. Check out five of the reasons Patch 5.2 is so awesome below and see if you agree:
One of the biggest appeals for me about Cataclysm was that the world was changed...in a major way. This was a totally new in game experience because up until that point the in game world had actually changed very little. After Cataclysm I had hoped that the world would continue to change, not including the introduction of brand new lands/zones.
In Patch 5.2 we see the first inkling
that perhaps the world will continue to evolve around us with the
reconstruction of Stormwind and Orgrimmar. A work in progress since
the beginning of the Cataclysm expansion, these two cities had both
apparently employed some of the worst construction crews possible.
However, despite the long wait the cities are back to their full
glory, and while the work is far from perfect, the front gates to
these two majestic cities have been rebuilt.
If you weren't around to experience the likes of the rebuilding of Sunwell Plateau or the opening of the gates of Agn'Qiraj before that, then you have no idea of what is in store for you as your server works to open the Isle of Thunder. There is something thrilling and unifying knowing that you and the rest of your server are all combining their efforts towards a single goal. Each new section that is unlocked is a tiny victory that comes close to the feeling of defeating a raid boss. This is one experience no player should go without and for this reason alone Patch 5.2 could easily make the list of awesome World of Warcraft patches.
One of the biggest complaints of players in World of Warcraft is boredom. If new content is not released, things just tend to get stale. Tiny content patches with a few new quests and other small changes just can't quench the thirst for new content either. With the expansion still so fresh, many WoW players were anticipating one of the smaller patches for 5.2. However, the reality of the patch is far from small. In fact Patch 5.2 is packed full of new content goodness.
Patch 5.2 brings us a brand new
mega-raid packed full with 13 raid bosses, a new zone that unlocks in
stages, a single player scenario, and much, much more. This overflow
of content is one great reason why this newest content patch is well
into the realm of awesome.
Any player who has been playing World of Warcraft since the beginning has at some point in time experienced a sense of nostalgia for the good old days. The good old days when things were harder, better, more fun, etc., etc. According to popular opinion, the game has been drifting further and further away from those days with every expansion. However, Mists of Pandaria, and more specifically Patch 5.2, seems to be heading back to the days of vanilla WoW. Patch 5.2 has reintroduced world bosses, no fly zones, big bad bosses, epic quest lines, and beautiful scenery. While we may never get back to the days of vanilla WoW, Patch 5.2 seems to be a giant step in the right direction.
They are big, bad, and totally extinct
in the real world. However, Blizzard has brought these beasts from
the ancient past back to life in Patch 5.2. In fact players will now
find an entire island devoted to these beasts in the Isle of Giants.
You can ride them, buy them, and Hunters can even tame them. Let's
face it...dinosaurs are the epitome of awesomeness and Patch 5.2 puts
them up front and center for our gaming enjoyment.
That concludes my list of reasons why Patch 5.2 is awesome. How do you feel about World of Warcraft Patch 5.2? Is this the best patch since pre-Cataclysm? What would you like to see in future game patches? Share your thoughts with us by using the comment section below!
