Flame Leviathan is the first boss encounter in Ulduar. This boss offers
nine obtainable achievements.

Three Car Garage

style="font-style: italic; color: rgb(30, 66, 137);">Defeat
Flame Leviathan while in each of the following vehicles on
Normal/Heroic Difficulty. (Salvaged Siege Engine, Salvaged Demolisher,
and Salvaged Chopper)

No real coordination or strat for this achievement. In fact, it
doesn‘t even matter if you drive or are a passenger. Make
sure you get a different vehicle each time you go in to kill Flame
Leviathan, and after you have driven/riden in all three, you will have
yourself a shiny new achievement. Three Car Garage is by far the
easiest achievement of them all, and as long as you can defeat Flame
Leviathan this achievement is in the bag.

Take Out Those Turrets

style="font-style: italic; color: rgb(30, 66, 137);">Destroy
a Flame Leviathan Defense Turret on Normal/Heroic Difficulty.

Much like the Malygos achievement, Denyin’ the Scion, this is
a rather simple personal achievement. Each raid, make sure that
different people are selected to be the passengers in the Salvaged
Demolishers. These passengers will then be launched by their drivers on
top of Flame Leviathan. The person launched will then proceed to kill
one of the Turrets and gain the achievement.

Shutout

style="font-style: italic; color: rgb(30, 66, 137);">Defeat
Flame Leviathan without causing a System Shutdown on Normal/Heroic
difficulty.

To obtain this achievement the only change to your strategy will be not
launching people on top of Flame Leviathan. Since there will be no
System Shutdowns (when all turrets are killed the boss will stop moving
and attacking). This will mean your raid will have to be more aware of
their surroundings and who is being chased. If you have any kind of
boss mods they will announce when there is 5 seconds until Flame
Leviathan switches targets. Everyone should be as far away from the
boss as possible. Those in the Siege Engines should be prepared to kite
the entire 30 seconds, using Steam Rush and Shield Generator as
necessary.

Unbroken

style="font-style: italic; color: rgb(30, 66, 137);">Defeat
Flame Leviathan on the first try without anyone repairing their vehicle
on Normal/Heroic Difficulty.

This achievement requires 2 things. Don’t wipe, and no matter
how tempting the little green pads are, don’t repair. This
sounds easy, but if you get people who like to run out in front of the
group, pull unneeded trash, or make a mistake on the boss causing a
wipe, this achievement could be difficult to get.

To start, make sure that your raid has on the max iLevel of gear
possible. This will allow the raid to have as much health as possible,
making repairs less likely. Once you enter the gauntlet portion of the
encounter, pull only the trash that is needed. Be sure your raid is
moving and killing things as a group and do not allow your more zealous
raid members to ride all over the map. Do not activate any Defense
Systems, which would make the boss do more damage and have more health.
Once you have engaged the boss, it is crucial that all Flame Vents are
interrupted, and passengers are launched to cause System Overloads.
Bikes should be sure to put oil down when possible to slow Flame
Leviathan, and all raid members should stay as far away from the boss
as possible except during System Overloads. Don’t fail at
kiting, or staying away from the boss and this achievement will be
yours.

Dwarfageddon

style="font-style: italic; color: rgb(30, 66, 137);">Destroy
100/200 Steelforged Defenders in 10 seconds on the Ulduar gauntlet
on Normal/Heroic Difficulty.

A rather fun achievement (who doesn’t like killing these
little dwarf things?), this should be attempted by your entire raid
making a mad dash towards one of the repair pads. Do not kill any
towers on your way, and only stop to kill things that are heading
towards your raid and pose a major threat such as the Mechanostriders
and Iron Colossuses. Once the repair pad is reached, have all raid
members repair, and start back towards the front, pulling along any
dwarves you can find along the way. When enough dwarves are chasing
after you, turn and begin the slaughter. This achievement should not be
done when attempting other achievements such as Unbroken for obvious
reasons.

Orbital Bombardment

style="font-style: italic; color: rgb(30, 66, 137);">Defeat
Flame Leviathan with 1 Orbital Defense System
on Normal/Heroic Difficulty.

In the gauntlet portion of this encounter four towers can be found.
Normally these towers can be ignored, but if you are considering
attempting this achievement, and eventually do the full out hard mode,
you will have to activate. To activate, instead of speaking just to
Brann as normal, you will have to speak to the Lore Keeper of Norgannon.

When active and intact, these towers will increase
Leviathan’s health and add an extra ability to the encounter.
If for any reason you decide during the gauntlet that you would rather
not attempt this achievement (or others requiring towers up), simply
destroy all the towers.

For this achievement I would suggest leaving up the Tower of Storms.
This tower will increase Flame Leviathan’s health by 40%,
increase its physical damage by 25%, and cause large blue beams to
spawn from the sky in random locations causing damage to anyone near
them.

To complete this achievement your raid will need to cause System
Shutdowns as often as possible, and DPS as hard as they can. The
biggest difference from normal mode will be avoiding the large blue
randomly spawned beams. Do this and you will be rewarded for your
efforts with a new achievement.

style="width: 545px; height: 96px;" alt=""

Orbital Devastation

style="font-style: italic; color: rgb(30, 66, 137);">Defeat
Flame Leviathan with 2 Orbital Defense Systems active on
Normal/Heroic Difficulty.

This achievement is much like Orbital Bombardment except you will be
required to leave one extra Tower active. I would suggest leaving up
the Tower of Storms and the Tower of Flames as I personally feel they
are the two easiest towers to deal with.

Proceed through the gauntlet as normal, making sure to destory the
Tower of Nature, and Towier of Frost. Once the boss is engaged, it will
not only have the extra abilities from the Tower of Storms, but it will
now gain 40% more health, and 50% more fire damage.  An extra
ability called Mimiron’s Inferno will now be active as well.
This ability moves in a diamond between the center of the walls, and
will drop spheres of fire on a predefined path. Being hit by the sphere
causes roughly 150,000 fire damage, and being hit by the trail does a
little less every 1 second.

To accomplish this achievement, once again, make sure oil is put down
to slow the boss and to do extra damage, make sure players are launched
to cause System Overloads to maximize damage and give your raid a
breather from kiting. Avoid the blue beams of light as before, but now
there is an extra wrench thrown into the fight. While kiting and
moving, your raid will have to watch out for flame lasers that will
leave trails of fire on the ground. These lasers can cut off your
kiting route, and if ran into, can cause huge amounts of damage. Pay
attention, don’t get trapped in, and stay away from blue
beams, and fire and you will have this achievement under your belt.

style="width: 545px; height: 91px;" alt=""
src="http://www.tentonhammer.com/image/view/71097">

Nuked from Orbit

style="margin-left: 40px; font-style: italic; color: rgb(30, 66, 137);">Defeat
Flame Leviathan with 3 Orbital Defense Systems active on
Normal/Heroic Difficulty.

Three Towers active this time, oh my. The tower I would choose to leave
active on top of the Tower of Storms, and Tower of Flame, would be the
Tower of Frost. This tower will increase Leviathan’s health
by 50%, and grant him Hodir’s Fury. This ability causes
several beams of light to chase random vehicles. If the vehicle should
stop, the beam will lock on them and drop a sphere of ice. All vehicles
hit by the sphere takes 150,000 frost damage and will be frozen in an
ice block, unable to do anything until a fire based attack from another
vehicle frees them.

To gain this achievement your raid will have to really be on their
toes. As before, there will be blue beams of stationary light to avoid,
and moving flame lasers that will have to be avoided. Those kiting will
have to be sure to keep their eye out and be ready to change directions
at any second in order to not be trapped or caught by Leviathan. Your
raid will now also have to watch out for dark blue beams of moving
light that will chase players. When these beams are noticed, the player
should keep moving at all costs. Stopping will result in the player
being frozen and possibly the vehicle being destroyed. These players
can be untrapped by fire-based attacks from other vehicles, but with
such a large room, and so many things to avoid it is best to just avoid
getting frozen altogether.

style="width: 520px; height: 89px;" alt=""
src="http://www.tentonhammer.com/image/view/71096">

Orbit-uary

style="font-style: italic; color: rgb(30, 66, 137);">Defeat
Flame Leviathan with all 4 Orbital Defense Systems active
on Normal/Heroic Difficulty.

This achievement requires all 4 towers to be left up, which means that
Leviathan will have a huge amount of abilities to watch out for.

The last tower is the Tower of Nature, this tower will increase
Leviathan’s health by 40% and increase fire damage taken by
10%. It also activates Freya’s Ward, which are 4 beams in the
corners of the room which will spawn either a large pack of Lashers or
a small pack of Lashers and a Ward of Life.

To complete this achievement, your raid will have to do everything
already stated above. Avoid beams, don’t get frozen,
don’t walk into fire, System Overloads, and tar. Have your
Demolishers unload their pyrite right away, and then launch their
passengers to start the System Overload process. Ensure when your
passengers are back in their vehicle after being launched the pyrite is
refilled. When System Overload is about to happen, announce it to the
rest of the raid so your Demolishers can unload their pyrite again
doing huge amounts of damage to Leviathan. On top of all of that, your
Demolishers will have to periodically take time out and take care of
the adds spawned from the beams in the corners. Use the tar to your
advantage as it is able to slow the adds, making it easier to kill them
before they reach anyone in your raid and do extra damage.

This seems like a lot, and it is. Your entire raid will have to be at
their best, but it will be well worth it to see this achievement come
across your screen.
