style="color: rgb(29, 66, 136); font-size: 14pt; font-weight: bold;">Overview
Heroic Utgarde Keep has 3 bosses. Each drops a Emblem of Heroism and
the final boss drops a Frozen Orb like all heroic bosses. With 17
potential loot drops, this is an easy heroic with diverse loot. The
plate DPS legs from the final boss are one of the best in game even
post Naxxramus if you are not hit capped and the hunter crossbow will
make every hunter smile. There is a little bit of everything for
everybody here and is a nice instance to farm for item, reputation and
badges because it is not that difficult.
This guide presents an overview of the items and some suggestions on
which classes and specializations that would receive the most benefit
from the items. Time for the small print. I know there can be an
argument made for any item for any class, and many classes share gear
itemization. That being said, this evaluates the items for a beneficial
standpoint. In most cases, certain specs will benefit more than other
specs. An example would be a ring with defense value and block value,
while the defense value may be good for a Death Knight, the block value
would be lost and a protection warrior would benefit more from that
item. Hence we would suggest the item as a higher priority for the
protection warrior than the Tanking Death Knight. The goal is NOT to be
a Bible of loot distribution but instead a guide on prioritizing gear
for those who may be unaware. If you are leading a run and are not
familiar with the needs and desires of different classes, this guide
will help you understand who may benefit best from any given item. When
all else fails...I say make’em fight over it!
The drops in this instance have a big range and it shouldn’t
be
difficult to find a group. As you can see below there is a wide variety
of loot. All of the equipment types are covered, from cloth to plate
and even a Recipe for our Jewelcrafting friends.
style="color: rgb(29, 66, 136); font-size: 14pt; font-weight: bold;">Item
Overview
Most of the items are dissenchantable at level 325, there
are however some exceptions that will require a level 375 disenchanter.
So be
aware of that before you enter the instance. With all items at level
200 the
gear here should be upgrades for most fresh 80 and the modest drop
chances
means not too much farming this instance if there is something you
need. Murphy
law may prove me wrong here but that is expected.

A decent
one handed tanking weapon, this will be favored by deathknight
tanks as it is not unique contains expertise for the dual wielding
deathknight and has some nice strength/expertise values. By far not the
best but as a common drop this should never go to waste. This will also
rank highly for protection warriors and may be one of the best
available until an epic is found.

At
239.2 DPS of shadow
damage, this wand boasts a nice +hit that most
dps caster will enjoy. The combination of hit and haste are going to
make most DPS casters drool but is most suited for fire mages and
destruction warlocks as these casters then to hit heavy and hard. The
haste decreases cast time and will combine the hit to make
sure
every
ouch of pain is inflicted. This will also serve as a decent piece for
any caster not yet hit capped. While the stats could benefit a holy
priest, this would not be a great option for them unless the upgrade
wouldn’t benefit anyone else in the party. At item level 200,
this is a
more common drop than the Heroic Azjol-Nerub but not as beneficial.

One
of the best helms available for Mookkin DPS, this has massive
spellpower and substanstial crit rating. Combined with a meta gem and a
yellow socket. This is one of the best helms available for our
boomchicken friends in heroic instances. Although only level 200 item
it will rank as higher dps as many level 213 items. For resto druids,
this is not as good as the Helm of anomalus that drops in the nexus
because of the lack of spirit, but would be an option if you
haven’t received it yet. This is also ranked very
high for
the elemental shaman if no leather wearers are in group.

One
of the strangest items to drop from this boss, this item has odds
stats. It is stamina heavy but lacks any mitigation statics you would
expect to see on any tanking item. Surprisingly, it provides a nice
piece of gear for protection warriors. This will most likely be
replaced with any of the more easily obtained or crafted items
available. It’s haste is nice for DPS but again not very
proficient for any particular plate wearing class. Best suited for the
unholy Death Knight more than most other classes, it again is not
anywhere the best piece, as you will find better items as zone drops,
crafted and even some normal instance drops, such as the Spiked Metal
Cilice in normal Culling of Stratholm. Rather than shard this item,
hope you have a warrior or Deathknight that could use it. Otherwise,
goodluck on your shard roll.

Every
Plate wearing DPS would want these if they drop. These are very
hard to prioritize because they are great for almost every plate
wearing DPS class. Ofcourse they do have more of a benefit to some more
than others. So putting aside what else would be available for each
class, looking only at the actual overall DPS contribution to each
class these are one of the best leg pieces a dps deathknight will see.
Many other classes can and will make the same argument, and although
true, I believe the need for these are shared by only retribution
paladins. If your group contains any of the classes listed below,
expect them all to roll, and deservingly so.

A
pure tank ring, benifiting the shield bearing tank. Thank goodness
there is “usually” one tank per group. Because
there will
be a dual if the is a protection paladin and a protect warrior around
for this drop. You can prioritize between the two either, both should
and will want to roll. Not as good for the non-shield bearing tank such
and the Deathknight, it could be rolled on for an offset to help meet
the defense cap.

Another
one that is tough to call. I can think of two distinct classes
that are goin to brawl over this one. Both hunters and enhancement
shaman share this as the best pre-epic loot options. Now all available
gear aside, I believe the actual contribution towards DPS there is a
slight extra benefit towards the hunter but the shaman would have other
options. Hopefully the bow dropped for the hunter and it’s a
wash. A desperate deathknight dps could use this as well, rather it go
to waste.

These
are the best legs for holy priests pre-epic gear. Unfortunately,
they are also the best pre-epic affliction warlock legs as
well.
There are few casters that wouldn’t mind it, such as shadow
priests but not as beneficial as the aforementioned classes. Most holy
priest will get upset by the rolls of the affliction warlock not
understanding they are also looking at the best in slot. Personally, I
say fight over it. But we all know, no matter who wins, there are going
to be some blood and tears at the end of it all.
