Guardians of Hyjal History

Appearing after the release of World of Warcraft: Cataclysm, the Guardians of Hyjal are a new faction whose sole duty is to protect the newly opened zone of Mount Hyjal from their primary base of operations in Nordrassil. Resembling the Cenarion Circle of the old world, the Guardians are comprised of mostly Druids and remain Neutral to all goodly races of the world whether they be animal, plant, Horde, or Alliance.

The Guardians of Hyjal worship the Ancients, demigods of old who assisted the Night Elves at many trying times throughout history and rely heavily on their power to help them protect Mount Hyjal. After the destruction wrought by various demons, the Guardians strive to repopulate the land with plant and animal life.

Unlocking the Guardians of Hyjal

The Guardians of Hyjal are based out of Mount Hyjal, one of the two level 80-82 starting zones in Cataclysm. Breadcrumb quests leading to this zone can be found in Stormwind and Orgrimmar from the Hero’s Call and Warchief’s Command boards. Players who pick up this quest will be first sent to Moonglade and from there will gain a direct flight (via dragon) to the zone. Once in the zone, the quest chain proper for the zone will begin inside the world tree, Nordrassil. The quests leading to Mount Hyjal include:
  • Hero’s Call: Mount Hyjal!/Warchief’s Command: Mount Hyjal!
  • As Hyjal Burns
  • Protect the World Tree
  • War on the Twilight’s Hammer
Players questing in Hyjal should note that the zone is extremely phased, however, as long as the quest chain is followed closing the progression and phased portions of the zone flow rather naturally. Players will begin earning reputation with this faction as early as the initial breadcrumb quests and will easily hit Revered with the faction if all quests inside the zone are completed.

Earning Guardians of Hyjal Reputation

All players start out Neutral with this faction. Players who complete all the quests in the zone, which this writer suggests since the quest lines in the zone are well done, not to mention it’s an easy way to earn tons of reputation, will find themselves well into Revered with this faction, opening up the Arcanum of Hyjal (the much sought after caster head enchant) and leaving little work to reach the final milestone of Exalted.

Daily Quests

Perhaps because of almost insane amounts of reputation that players are able to gain by questing in Hyjal, there are currently no daily quest available for this faction. If players wish to earn further reputation with the Guardians of Hyjal they must first purchase the Tabard and complete instances to do so. Not all hope is lost as there are many rumors hinting that perhaps in the near future, patch including daily quests will be added for this faction.

Instances

To gain further reputation with this faction players also have the option of purchasing the [Tabard of the Guardians of Hyjal] at level 85 from the faction’s Quartermaster once they have reached Friendly reputation. The Quartermaster for this faction can be found in Nordrassil Inn in (62.8, 23.9). Completing level 85 instances with this Tabard equipped will gain the player reputation with this faction from all bosses and mobs killed inside said instance.

Each completed heroic instance has the potential to yield around 3000 reputation, with normal mode instances earning significantly less. Reputation gains inside each instance depends greatly on the number of bosses and mobs present in each. The more bosses and mobs an instance holds, the larger the amount of potential reputation to be gained.

Players interested in serious reputation gains and who are part of an active guild should keep in mind that if your guild reaches level 4 the Mr. Popularity perk will be unlock. This perk increases the reputation gained from killing monsters and completing quests by 5%.
