The Klaxxi are a new faction in the Mists of Pandaria expansion and are made-up of members of the Mantid race. You will find the Kaxxi in the Dread Wastes which is a level 90 zone. The Mantid are an insectoid race that are heavily based on preying mantis and ant type body structures.

While most of the Mantid are extremely hostile to any outsider, the Klaxxi are different. The Klaxxi are a group of Mantid that belong to an organization that is outside the normal Mantid political structure. They exist to ensure that the Mantid Empire survives even when the leaders become corrupt or evil. The Klaxxi will go to any length to protect their empire and their race, even to the point of assassinating their corrupt rulers.

The quests with the Klaxxi will start when you enter the Dread Wastes and find the quest Psycho Mantid found near the Terrace of Gurth near the North East corner of the zone. This quest leads you to setting free the first of the many Klaxxi Paragons that you must find, Kil'ruk the Wind Reaver. Kil'ruk will be your entry point to the Klaxxi. Paragons are great Mantid heros that have been put into a form of long term hibernation by being encased in amber until they are once again needed.

Klaxxi Paragons

Once you find and free Kil'ruk he will lead you to freeing several other key members of the Klaxxi faction, which happen to be other Paragons. Once free you gain access to additional Klaxxi daily quests. While freeing the Paragons and before you even get to the daily quests you will gain enough reputation with the Klaxxi to get about half way to honored.

As you free Paragons you will gain access to various buffs and augmentations that they offer you as assistance. You can chose which buff and which augmentation you want at any time by talking to the Paragon that you want the benefit from. These bonuses remain in effect while you are in the Dread Wastes. The Paragons and the benefits they provide are as follows:

Paragons that grant Enhancements

Iyyokuk the Lucid - Enhancement: Silent Lucidity - This enhancement grants a 25% chance for your attacks to grant a lucidity buff up to once every 8 seconds. Lucidity changes depending on your class but essentially grants one of your short cooldown abilities only a 0.5 second cooldown on it's next use.

Kil'ruk the Wind-Reaver - Enhancement: Angel of Death - Whenever you have two or more enemies within 10 yards Kil'ruk will descend and deal massive damage to them with an AOE cleave attack. This assistance has a 60 second cooldown.

Malik the Unscathed - Enhancement: Iron Mantid -Any dodged, blocked, parried, or absorbed attacks against you grant a stack of bladeturning. When you reach 10 stacks of bladeturning you deal huge damage to all enemies within 10 yards and stuns them for 5 seconds.

Rik'kal the Dissector - Enhancement: Children of the Grave - You gain a 50% chance to infect the bodies of those you kill. If infected the body will explode 8 seconds later dealing significant damage to all enemies nearby.

Xaril the Poisoned Mind - Enhancement: Raining Blood - Grants your attacks a stacking poison effect. Once you stack 8 poison on the target it deals huge damage and stuns them for 5 seconds.

Paragons that grant Augments

Hisek the Swarmkeeper - Augment: Seek and Destroy - This augment shows mobs that will grant 5 minute buffs by killing them. There are three different possibilities: Dread Might (a 15% increase to agility, strength, and stamina), Dread Wisdom (a 15% increase to intellect, spirit, and stamina), and Dread Swiftness (a 5% increase to haste and movement).

Kaz'tik the Manipulator - Augment: Master of Puppets - Grants you a mind control ability on a 2 minute cooldown that makes the target fight for you instead of against you.

Ka'roz the Locust - Augment: Speed King - Grants you the ability to leap up to 30 yards on a 5 second cooldown, and grants a 10% speed boost for 60 seconds after killing an enemy.

Korven the Prime - Augment: Painkiller - Any time you would be killed you are instead encased in amber and instead regenerate 20% health and mana every 2 seconds for 10 seconds, during this time you also suffer 80% less damage but can not move or use abilities. This can only be triggered once every 3 minutes.

Skeer the Bloodseeker - Augment: Battle Hymn - Any time you kill an enemy you will gain battle hymn for 10 seconds. During that time any damaging attack you land will heal you by 1%.

Klaxxi Daily Quests

Once you have freed all of the Paragons you gain access to various daily quests that they offer. The quests are always offered out of the the quest hub of Klaxxi'vess in the center of the Dread Wastes.

Each of the daily quests reward you with 130 reputation with the Klaxxi, 5 Valor points, 2 lesser charms of good fortune, and some gold.

Each day you will be given a set of 7 daily quests to complete. Their are 4 different possible sets of 7 that are chosen from each day randomly. Each set of 7 daily quests happens at a set location in the Dread Wastes.

Lake of Stars - This set of quests take place in the south east corner of the zone.

Terrace of Gurthan - This set of quests take place in the north east corner of the zone.

Heart of Fear - This set of quests take place in the western section of the zone.

Zan'vess - This set of quests take place on the island of Zan'vess off the south west coast of the mainland.

The Klaxxi Reputation Rewards

OK, on to the question everyone wants answered at this point, why should you grind reputation with the Klaxxi?  What do these bugs have for you that makes helping them worth your time and effort?

Starting at Honored the Klaxxi have some really great rewards for players, and especially for blacksmiths. That's correct if you are a blacksmith, the Klaxxi will be one of your key priorities to get rep with since they sell a whole pile of blacksmithing plans. There are a some really good epic ilevel 476 chest and glove pieces as well as the new Mists of Pandaria shield spike, belt buckle, and weapon chain. In addition to the the epic item plans the Klaxxi sell plans for rare ilevel 463 weapons that are bind on pickup and therefore for blacksmith use only.

At honored all players also gain access to some justice point gear including 2 plate chest pieces, 2 mail and 2 leather wrist pieces, and 2 cloth hand pieces.

Once you get to revered reputation you gain access to a large number of amulets, belts, and legs that are all ilevel 489 epic gear. All of the gear is available for valor points and range from 1250 points for the amulets, 1750 points for the belts, and 2200 points for the legs. Being ilevel 489 means that these are some of the best that most players will have access to since they are higher ilevel that the LFR queue provides.

When you reach exalted with the Klaxxi some interesting options open up, however most are simply vanity based items. For example you can get a giant scorpion mount which is really cool looking and something that Alliance players did not have access to before. The main items available though are a variety of amber weapons from the Klaxxi that are rare ilevel 463 weapons. By the time you earn exalted you will likely not need ilevel 463 weapons they are very cool looking and prime transmogrification bait.

Earning Reputation Faster

There are a few ways to gain reputation faster than normal with factions in Pandaria that can help you save time in the game.

The first way to gain reputation faster requires you to be working on reputation with any secondary characters that you have (or a primary that is at least revered). Once one character gets to revered with a faction you gain the ability to purchase an item from them called a Grand Commendation. This item allows you to earn double reputation with that faction on this and all other characters that you have. It is an awesome speed boost to earning rep, and one that you should make sure you grab as soon as you hit revered with each faction. It cuts that last 21,000 reputation required to get to Exalted down to half. The fact that it speeds up all other characters sure doesn't hurt either.

The second way to earn reputation faster is to champion a faction while running LFG dungeon runs and scenarios each day. This feature was added into the game with Patch 5.2. This feature is especially handy if you have gotten sick of doing dailies for various factions. You can select a faction to champion and you will get 200 reputation with them for the first scenario you complete each day and 300 reputation with them for the first LFG random dungeon that you run each day. Over time this 500 points each day really adds up. If you team this up with a character that already has a Grand Commendation, it means you can get from revered to exalted in 10 days just with scenario and dungeon runs. Not to shabby.
