This scenario is one of the ones added to the game in Patch 5.3. Dark Heart of Pandaria is presented from a Horde point of view and takes place smack dab in the middle of the Vale of Eternal Blossoms. It focuses on a goblin dig team attempting to find an ancient artifact for Garrosh.

The scenario shows how Garrosh is willing to go to any lengths to win the War against the Alliance. He is so focused on power that he is willfully desecrating one of the Pandarens most sacred places by digging for artifacts there. For Alliance players that go through the scenario it will convert you over to goblins so that you fit right in.

To start this scenario for the first time you need to visit Lorewalker Cho in the Vale of Eternal Blossoms. There he will give you an introduction to the backstory and then you can queue for the scenario.

The scenario is made up of five separate stages that happen at locations throughout an open pit mine and then into a mine shaft underground.

Stage 1: Talk to the Boss

In this first stage all you really need to do is listen to the story line unfold. Here you find out that while digging in the area the very ground itself has come to life to and is stopping the goblins from completing the dig that they have been ordered to do for Garrosh.

Stage 2: Rock Grinding

The second stage of the scenario is to head down into the mining pit and to stop the elementals that are there. To do this you need to defeat the main elemental, however he is protected with a shield that reduces damage done to him based on the number of lesser elelmentals that are still alive.

You should kill at least half of them before engaging the main boss so that you do at least 1/2 damage, however there really is no reason to not kill all off them before engaging him.

Stage 3: Economic Recovery

In the third stage you need to move around the mine and collect the various artifacts that are around the dig site. You will be able to find them by the glowing pillars of light around them.

Stage 4: End of the Mine

The fourth stage's goal is to make your way to the bottom of the mine. You will need to fight your way past several large groups of Blood of Y'shaarj. While they are easy to defeat, there is a larger version called the Mouth of Fear, that isn't all that easy. They hit much harder than the small Blood of Y'shaarj and have a nasty fear that will send you flying into other groups and potentially additional Mouth of Fears.

Final Stage: Heart Break

This final stage happens after you have made your way to the end of the mines shaft. Here you will gain access to a long hidden chamber.

In that chamber there is a containment field holding a black ooze. Upon entering the room the containment field breaks open and unleashes the ooze. One of the goblins runs forward with explosives to stop the oozes advance, but it takes him over and converts him into the Echo of Y'Shaarj.

The fight itself is pretty frantic, and you will be subjected to massive incoming damage. Besides the Echo of Y'Shaarj you will need to deal with constantly spawning Blood of Y'Shaarj that will attack everyone in the room. Luckily you should be able to put out massive DPS in this fight due to a bonus room mechanic. There are four pools of light around the room that you can enter that will reset all of your cooldowns. This means you can use all of your major cooldowns up to 5 times in the fight. That should equal huge DPS output if you use them each time.

The scenario ends with a dark warning of things to come. The Warchief's assistant comes in and refuses to pay the goblin miners their full payment. Instead insulting and demeaning them. Stating that they are lucky that Garrosh puts up with their kind in Orgrimmar. This gets a comment back about seeing who will have Garrosh's back when it counts. More trouble on the horizon for the Warchief it seems.

Dark Heart of Pandaria – Scenario Achievements

There are 3 different achievements that can be earned in this scenario.

Dark Heart of Pandaria – Complete the Dark Heart of Pandaria scenario.

This achievement is earned by simply finishing the scenario.

Accelerated Archaeology – Pick up three special artifacts in a single instance of the scenario.

This is fairly simple to achieve, as long as the other players are not trying to complete it as well. You need to pickup three of the special artifacts in stage 3 of the scenario. This is a per player achievement, hence the issue with others grabbing them. If you don't make it clear at the beginning who is going to get the achievement, no one will as everyone will grab them randomly.

Heroic:Dark Heart of Pandaria – Complete the Dark Heart of Pandaria scenario on Heroic Difficulty.

While the scenario is pretty easy to compete on normal mode other than the last fight, it is challenging on heroic mode. Even when fully raid geared the last fight can cause issues unless done correctly. Also since you need to be in a pre-made group to queue for a heroic scenario it may be hard for some casual players to complete this one.
