World of Warcraft Weekly Roundup

WORLD OF WARCRAFT NEWS AND COMMUNITY EVENTS

This week’s big news has been the release of the much-touted Guild Chat update for the official Remote iPhone app. The preview - currently only available to selected US realms but sure to come to Europe soon - is a tad buggy at the moment but it’s also free for now so give it a go if you can.

World of Warcraft News

The Top Official News Stories This Week

  • Dev Watercooler: Critical Hits (And Misses) - Ghostcrawler is back with another fascinating (and much shorter) post, this time focusing on critical hits. As with all his stuff, it really is required reading so check it out!
  • Official Magazine Interviews Cinematic Team - We all know the cinematics team at Blizzard are totally awesome, right? It doesn’t matter whether you just started playing WoW or were there with Warcraft III launched, they’re ahead of their time and the folks at the official WoW Magazine interviewed them for the latest issue. Well, Blizzard has posted a fascinating teaser for those of you who don’t subscribe and it’s well worth looking at.
  • Blizzard Releases “The Council of the Three Hammers: Fire and Iron” - World of Warcraft lore seems to get even more mindboggling by the day and, continuing its series of short stories focusing on the racial leaders, this short fiction takes us to Ironforge and the tenuous relationship between the three clans of Dwarves in the wake of Magni’s crystallisation.
  • Blizzard Demos 4.1 Guild Finder Feature - Let's be honest, finding a guild can be a pain in the butt but in 4.1 this is going to change, hopefully for the better. Blizzard has been working on a Guild Finder for a while now and is very keen to show off how it works. So, if you're looking for a guild, check out the community site for the 411.
  • Garrosh Hellscream: Then and Now - Blizzard is continuing it’s periodic series on the changing characters of Azeroth. This time it’s Garrosh’s turn and while the text precis’ his life, it’s fascinating to see the different in his character model (which is basically the point of the post).
  • Blizzard Open TCG Gallery - Even if you don’t play the TCG, it’s hard not to appreciate the awesome, if tiny, illustrations on the cards. Well Blizzard has finally opened a proper gallery devoted to showcasing the illustrations as they should be seen. Go forth and enjoy!

Awesome Stuff Created by the WoW Community

Comics roundup:
  • While The Daily Blink seem to have been abducted by GLaDOS as un/willing test subjects (haven’t we all this week?), they did take time out earlier this week to visit Thrall. The poor chap seems to be having marital difficulties and is a tad lonesome holding the world together.
Fan art:
  • New Warcraft Fan Art - Blizzard has once again updated the Fan Art Section on the community site with sixteen new pieces of fan artwork set within the Warcraft universe. You can check out the second batch here. The wallpaper-esque image of a burning Deathwing and the new look Malfurion Stormrage are especially impressive but it was this amazing piece that took all of our breaths away.
