It
is easy to let time slip
away from you whilst adventuring your way through World of Warcraft.
With all the possible major past times available, such as raiding, PvP,
and questing, all of which are very time consuming, it is easy to
forget that there is much more to do inside the World of Warcraft.
Below you will find a listing of the top five World of Warcraft
activities outside the norm, for those times when you want to spend
your game time doing something just a little bit different than the
norm.

Exploration

width="245">Challe's
Home for Little Tykes is just one of the many oddities that players can
discover.

Inside WoW lurks a vast
landscape full of curious creatures and amazing landscapes just begging
for exploration. However, after awhile it may begin to feel like
you’ve seen everything there is to see in WoW. What was
awe-inspiring becomes common place and Azeroth can begin to feel a bit
boring. While I agree that sometimes it may seem like you’ve
seen everything you can see inside WoW, much like the Transformers,
there is more to the game than meets the eye.

Most players only see those
things that are out in the open and miss out on the extraordinary
things Blizzard has hidden throughout the game for those who go the
extra mile to seek them out. Crystal Lake, Challe’s Home for
Little Tykes, and the Ironforge Airport are just a few examples of the
wondrous things that players can find with just a little bit of extra
work. So even when you think there is nothing left, keep on exploring,
you never know what you may find.

Roleplaying

Roleplaying, or as its more
commonly known in the game world, RP is, as most of us know and have
experienced first hand at some point in time, when a player takes on
the role of a particular character. We also know that roleplaying is
the butt of many of jokes in World of Warcraft and because of this most
players who participate in roleplaying would rather not announce it to
the world. So why is roleplaying on my list of top five WoW side
attractions you ask? Its simple…roleplaying can be downright
fun for almost any player and its time it came out of the prodigal
closet.

I think its time we get past
the stigma attached to roleplaying and instead focus on the additional
entertainment it can provide in game. With roleplaying players can take
their game play to the next level, wrapping themselves up in the fabric
of Azeroth like they never have before. The best part of roleplaying is
that everyone is free to participate from new players to seasoned
veterans. Of course roleplaying isn’t for everyone, but as
the saying
goes; don’t knock it till you try it, and I suggest you do.

Pet
Collecting

style="padding: 10px; float: right; width: 250px; text-align: center;"> href="http://www.tentonhammer.com/node/206318" target="_blank"> src="http://www.tentonhammer.com/image/view/206318/preview"
width="245">Pick
up pets such as the Onyxian Whelpling to prepare yourself for the
upcoming Pet Battle System.

Pet collecting, or as I like to
call it; the hoarding of small animals, is a past time that most of us
already participate in on some level. Whether you only have collected
the pets that you’ve personally received in your mailbox just
to clear up space, or if you actively seek them out we all have a few
pets to our name. Just like all things, pet collecting isn’t
for everyone, and is even despite by some players. But with the future
addition of pet battles pet collecting has become a whole lot more
appealing and this is why its made my list.

Pet battles have the potential
to turn pet collecting from the rather unrewarding task it used to be
into something that could provide hours of excitement outside of the
norm in World of Warcraft. Players will not only be able to pit their
pets in epic battles against other pets, but they will also be able to
take pet collecting to the next level, finding
“wild” pets that they can capture. Sure it might
seem like Pokemon gone wild inside World of Warcraft, but hey, we
already have Plants vs. Zombies inside the game so why not Pokemon? So
get to pet collecting now to be sure you’re ready for the
upcoming Pet Battle System or simply because as the catch phrase goes;
you gotta catch ‘em all.

Achievements

Achievements, like many of the
other suggestions on this list, are one of those things in game that
players seem to either really, really love or really, really hate.
Nevertheless, despite the hatred achievement seeking evokes in some
players, they still managed to make my list. Earning each achievement
is a challenge in themselves and once a player starts they can find
themselves just as determined to complete the achievement
as raiders are to defeat an especially difficult boss or the avid PvPer
is to wipe out a tough team. Not to mention that achievements also
offer some cool rewards such as titles, pets, and mounts.

Until recently, most
achievements were taken on at a personal level, however, with the
addition of guild achievements players can join together to earn guild
rewards and feel like they are part of the bigger picture. Are
achievements mindless and pointless? Maybe…but so is
watching television and millions of people seem to enjoy it anyways. So
the next time you’re looking for a new way to pass the time,
don’t hesitate to give achievements a try, but be
warned...achievement seeking
can become addiciting!

Daily Quests

style="padding: 10px; float: right; width: 250px; text-align: center;"> href="http://www.tentonhammer.com/node/206319" target="_blank"> src="http://www.tentonhammer.com/image/view/206319/preview"
width="245">The
blue question mark is a sure sign of a Daily Quest.

I know what you’re
thinking, daily quests are kind of just like questing, except you have
to do the same quest day after day after day. I’ll be the
first to admit, that sometimes even the mere thought of doing daily
quests makes me want to /life quit. However, it doesn’t
change the fact that daily quests are currently one of the most
profitable and easiest ways to earn a profit in World of Warcraft which
is why daily quests have managed to make my list.

Daily quests can be found for
almost any level player and can be completed in a relatively short time
and as mentioned above are an excellent source of gold and can even
sometimes earn the player other rewards. So if you’re looking
for a way to pass the time and you want to earn some extra cash check
your sanity at the door and seek out the daily quest nearest you.
