Blizzard Promises New MMO, Not WoW II

Make love not another Warcraft.

Make love not another Warcraft.

Blizzard CEO, Mike Morhaime is best known for his opening ceremony speeches at Blizzcon events. Well maybe not that, but he did help launch the little game we like to call World of Warcraft. Mr. Morhaime is also charged with an as yet unamed MMO in the works for Blizzard, and while they haven't said what it is, they have confirmed what it isn't in a recent interview with Wired:

"It’s not going to be a World of Warcraft sequel."

Can you elaborate a bit Mike?

"We’re not trying to replace World of Warcraft with this new MMO. We’re trying to create a different massively multiplayer experience, and hopefully World of Warcraft will still be going strong when that one is released."

Makes sense. Why stop making money on one game only to cannibalize the players, instead it might be smarter to start a whole new WoW killer on your own. To read the rest of the interview, stop by the gamer blog at Wired.
