Disemboweling and beheadings are only months away.
A brief preview of AoC has gone live at 1up.com. Although short, the preview does include the previewers initial thoughts on the Age of Conan combat system and the gritty, hands-on feeling that they were left with.
If you time your attacks properly, you fight a lot faster, and you can even randomly cause bloody fatalities like beheadings and disembowelment. It's different from the hands-off fighting of other MMORPGs, but the button mashing can be a bit repetitive, and facing your foes definitely takes some time to get used to. If you use magic attacks, your moves are bound to the F1-F8 keys, and these seem to be a bit easier to master but lack the strategy of melee attacks.
