Sony Computer Entertainment and CCP negotiate the policy for DUST 514 virtual items on the Playstation 3. Speaking with Develop, CCP CEO Hilmar Pétursson discussed the negotiations ongoing with Sony to establish pricing tiers and revenue split between the two for the upcoming EVE Online FPS tie-in, DUST 514.
Given the amount of back and forth there, we can definitely see us breaking new ground.
DUST 514 may also still see a retail release of some sorts according to David Reid formerly of Trion Worlds and the newly appointed chief marketing officer for CCP.
If there is a retail play, Sony has tremendous routes into that. They have PlayStation Network cards sold over the counter. Theres so many ways for us to get our brand everywhere.
DUST 514 is expected to launch on the Playstation 3 later this year.
