Granted, it's not the most original thought; but the man does make a point. He does, however, make the brilliant suggestion of collecting some of the ore to bring to Donovan to study. Why we didn't just do this to begin with and save ourselves a nasty fight against Fubared, I don't know. But it is how the quest progresses. So ask not, buck up, put on your game face, and accept the quest.
