If you're one of the players still playing Final Fantasy XIV (FFXIV), you might want to avoid using any third party programs. These programs are against most online game EULAs and shunned by the developers and a majority of the gaming community. But some players still choose to use these programs to gain an edge over other players or the game itself.

Earlier today, Square Enix posted a new message to the FFXIV community warning players against using such programs. The post notes that the devs have determined that a number of players have utilized such programs and warns that those doing so could face disciplinary action and a number of potential security risks to their account.

We have determined that a number of players are utilizing third party programs or tools. If you are found to have used such programs, your service account could face disciplinary measures. Additionally, there have been cases of malicious software being embedded in such programs, and users of such programs put themselves at risk of losing control of their character in-game, acquiring viruses, having personal information stolen, having their account compromised, and being the recipient of any number of harmful activities.
