A new MMO embarks on an epic journey, like zOMG!
Gaia Online has announced the launch of its flash-based browser MMO with over 10,000 community members being invited to the closed beta (from over 120,000 applications!). The official name of the new MMO is in fact zOMG! which causes all kinds of feelings to well up.
The game is free with no downloads (since it runs in a browser) and offers the standard fare of the full (bloated?) client-based games. From the press release:
Designed in a flash-based environment that is free and requires no downloads, players will interact in zOMG! by engaging in quests, battling monsters, exploring the beautiful worlds and socializing with friends. As an extension of the Gaia Online virtual world, the MMO game extends the current Gaia Online offerings, like mini games, customizable avatars, forums, and numerous creative and social outlets.
Using the strong player base of Gaia, zOMG! appears to be heading down the right path by adding significant upgrades over its predecessor. Look for a launch sometime soon! The website has some great information as well as animations at zOMG!
