Choose your (idealized) reality...

We went to Comic Con 2008 expecting the same song and dance from 38 Studios, the Boston-based studio currently developing the fantasy MMORPG Copernicus (working title). With superstar talent like popular fantasy novelist R.A. Salvatore and comic book and toy legend Todd McFarlane aboard, it's hard to not be anxious for a peek behind the curtain.

And that's exactly what Director of Creative Development Scott Cuthburtson and newly announced Art Director Thome Ang offered us! Taking two exclusive pieces of artwork (which we're proud to now present to you for the first time), the 38 Studios crew explained the vision behind what their signature art style.

""(Scott Cuthbertson) Now we're in the process of going from the conceptual phase to the prototype and some digital imagery that you can drive around in, as well as making sure it's technically possible to take this painterly, artistic style and make it something that's real in the game. And not just something where you can say, 'Well, that's a pretty painting, but it doesn't really look like that, does it?' It really does."
