Vivox's Monty Sharma Interviewed at OGDC 2007

Monty Sharma is always a great interview, partly because of his wit and friendliness, and also because he has something new up his sleeve related to integrated gaming voicechat. OGDC 2007 was no exception. An update on the state of the art, using Vivox for positional voicechat, text-to-speech and real-time transcription, ever-improving voice fonts to morph and age voices, and possible applications of voicechat technology in the mainstream- all this and more was on the table in our latest exciting interview with Vivox's Monty Sharma.

"Mr. Sharma introduced us to one of the newer advances in Vivox technology: positional voicechat. With 80+ people in a single EVE Online channel, short of resorting to the requisite half-duplex solutions (e.g. muting out everyone except the leader when he or she speaks), creating not only a sense of positioning but also making voices susceptible to a decay curve would make integrated voicechat not only less chaotic, but more organic as well."
