Discovery Channel may have started it all with their version of Shark Week, but can you imagine how much fun it would be in Overwatch?
Where to start? Well, Overwatch did that for us with the RoadHog Mako Shark skin, which lends itself to the question, what skins would look great or suit other Heroes?
What about...
Angel Shark Mercy Blacktip Reaper Bull Shark Reinhardt Goblin Shark Junkrat Hammerhead Torbjörn Nurse Lúcio Sandtiger GenjiWhat others are good fits...? Pun intended!
We could have a map where we escort a payload through one of those "walk-thru" aquariums. How cool would that be? Instead of the director talking us through the Hollywood map we get one of those perky and always incredibly happy tour guides that tells us all about the sharks that are swimming next to us in the transparent aquarium tubes.
Maybe we could even trigger events throughout the push that would help or hinder the delivery of the payload.
Only 3% of shark species attack humans. All Overwatch Heroes attack humans. Ok, so this isn't a similarity. It's just amusing. When a shark dies, salt from the ocean's water dissolves it's skeleton (made from cartilage) entirely, leaving nothing behind. Reaper also dissolves when he dies. Coincidence or...?More people are killed each year by falling coconuts than by sharks. Maybe we need a Winston Coconut skin? His ult would rain down coconuts on the enemy's head when he is enraged.
The Aztecs attached chili peppers to their canoes to keep sharks away. Given Reinhardt's musical tastes playing The Red Hot Chili peppers would likely act as a shield to keep him away, just don't play Night Rocker by David Hasselhof. It's an attractant. Sharks can track you from more than two football fields away, much like Hanzo and Widowmaker.Angel sharks are also known as Sand Devils. Mercy has a devil skin.
Tires and license plates have been found inside of sharks' stomachs. Roadhog wears them on his. "Jumping the shark" is an idiom used to describe the moment in which a television show uses a gimmick in an attempt to raise ratings for a declining show. The term was coined from the episode of Happy Days where Fonzie attempts to jump over a shark on water skis a la Evel Knievel. Soldier:76 has an Evel Knievel skin. Can it be long before his L-Shift also creates water skis? The megamouth shark was discovered in 1976, mere years before the megamouth gaming troll.
I'd hazard a guess that the community can come up with dozens of ways to relate sharks to Overwatch.
Have at it!
