Yo ho yo ho a pirate's life for me.
Gamedaily.com has a review of the game that launched as quietly as a ghost pirate ship in the night: Pirates of the Carribbean Online. What's their take? Disney should have waited a bit.
Technologically, PotC Online pulls off an amazing feat with a completely painless and automatic installation that quickly gets people designing their pirates while the rest of the game downloads in background. Players can sign up for free and play with limited access within an ad-supported window. Paid subscribers (4.99 for the first month, then $9.99 per month) don't have to wait on a login queue and can use all items and go to all areas of the world. Being a paid subscriber definitely has some strong perks, especially since getting disconnected from the game can lead to long wait times to come back, sometimes up to ten minutes or more.
