Increased Security for World of Warcraft Accounts
For less than the cost of a mochafrappamurloc ($6.95) you can get a key chain attachment that will secure your precious jewels in Azeroth. In an effort to curb account swiping, Blizzard announced that they would offer an additional level of security in the form of a cute little key chain. Battling the iron will of hackers with plastic, the announcement disclosed a few more details:
Designed to attach to a keychain, the lightweight and waterproof Blizzard® Authenticator is an electronic device that generates a six-digit security code at the press of a button. This code is unique, valid only once, and active for a limited time; it must be provided along with the account name and password when signing in to the World of Warcraft account linked to it.
Using such a multi-faceted security option will certainly cut down on stolen account issues which is good for both Blizzard and the players. The only warnings I would add: "Do not lose your keys. It will probably be easier to replace your car than get your account back, and think twice before valet parking."
