A lot of buzz has been circulating around Curt Schilling’s
game company, 38 Studios, and their upcoming projects: style="font-style: italic;">Kingdoms of Amalur:
Reckoning and style="font-style: italic;">Copernicus.
Schilling has long been an avid gamer, playing wargames such as style="font-style: italic;">Advanced Squad Leader
(which he now owns), RPGs, and online games from style="font-style: italic;">Ultima Online
to style="font-style: italic;">World of Warcraft.
Ten Ton Hammer’s own Ethec sat down with Curt Schilling at
SyndCon 2010 to talk about 38 Studios’ upcoming projects and
gaming in general.

In the interview, Curt Schilling shows his passion for gaming, touching
on a wide variety of topics. While most details were centered on 38
Studios’ upcoming release, style="font-style: italic;">Kingdoms of Amalur:
Reckoning, the topics also
hit on Copernicus,
their in-development MMOG. Of special interest is Schilling’s
views on gaming across multiple platforms, the evolution of combat in
games, and the desire to create an open ended world that not only
rewards players for exploration, but also a world that players want to
explore.

There are a lot of high hopes for 38 Studios. Schilling has amassed an
amazingly creative pool of talent to create the worlds that their games
will encompass. From Ken Rolston ( style="font-style: italic;">Paranoia,
Oblivion)
to Todd MacFarlane ( style="font-style: italic;">Spawn)
to R. A. Salvatore ( style="font-style: italic;">DemonWars,
Drizzt Do'Urden), this lineup is a gamer’s dream. All of us
at Ten Ton Hammer are looking forward to what these men can do as a
team.
