Hey guys, let's make a single player RPG with integrated chat!
Slate has a new article out about the "lameness" of World of Warcraft. They look at WoW and explain, in their own detail, why it's lame and could easily be improved on. There are some good points, of course, in that their suggestions are exactly what players want. As we all know though, what players want and what is a good game are often seperate things.
You could argue that the gameplay is supposed to be repetitive and simple. The real point of Warcraft is to interact with the other playersto socialize in the chat channels, team up for quests, and run each other down on the battlefields. Teamwork and competition do make the game much more fun, but everybody's stuck in the same grind. With little at stake, your quests feel less like Frodo and Sam's trip to Mordor than a night shift at Hardee's.
