Warlords of Draenor Easter Eggs

Discovering the surprising, funny, and even adorable Easter Eggs found in Warlords of Draenor.

If you are anything like me, then you really enjoy the little nods to celebs, movies, games, and other items of interest that Blizzard puts into their games. Otherwise known as Easter Eggs, finding these little tidbits of awesome is a real treat. While we have already covered the many Easter Eggs that you can find inside your Garrison, there are plenty more to be found in the world of Draenor at large.

50 Shades of Grey

While I didn't particularly enjoy the book Fifty Shades of Grey (because I didn't think it was well written, not because of the content), it has become hugely popular. Thus it is not surprising that it earned a spot in Draenor and has become one of my personal favorite Easter Eggs.

Shortly after your first meeting with Percy and Reshad in Spires of Arak, you will sent on a quest to collect some books. Percy tries to sneak away with one entitled: Fifty Layers of Shadow. Reshad is flustered and demands the bird put it down straight away and Percy begrudgingly complies. The scene is funny and a nice nod to this super popular erotica in game.

Robin Williams

The world got a little less funny with the death of Robin Williams. He touched, inspired, and brought joy to so many people. After the death of this amazing man, Blizzard decided to commemorate forever in game. While many memorials have been rumored, one that has been confirmed is a small island off the coast of Talador, nearly in Nagrand, that contains some strange objects. Players who travel here will find a lamp and a cracked egg.

The lamp produces a Genie, a references to his role as the iconic Genie in Aladdin, while the egg is probably a nod to his days spent playing Mork. For those who haven't seen the show, Mork was a strange extraterrestrial who came to earth in an egg. Coordinates for this memorial are: 74.8, 96.3 and it is well worth the visit.

Jean-Claude Van Damme

Jean-Claude Van Damme isn't just some dude with a really long name. No, he is a Belgian martial artist who turned actor making a serious of martial arts action films that children of the 80's and 90's will never forget. Jean-Claude (in this author's opinion) is legendary and it seems that Blizzard thinks so too. Alliance players have the chance to obtain Pitfighter Vaandaam as a Follower in their Garrison.

Vaandaam can be obtained by players who have decided to build the Sparring Arena in Gorgrond. The quest The Axe of Kor'gall will then become available. Rumor has it that this Follower's accent is bangin' and his splits...legendary.

White Fang

White Fang is, a wild white wolf-dog that is the star of a rather famous book of the same name. Written by Jack Landon, this novel details the journey of White Fang journey to domestication. Wildly popular, it is no wonder that this book resounded with at least one Blizzard employee and a nod to it seems to have made it into game. Players who are paying attention will find that Draka's faithful white wolf companion bears the name WhiteFang.

Conan the Barbarian

Inside the Bloodmaul Slag Mines can be found a peculiar fellow, wearing very little clothing. Named Croman the Barbarian, he is endlessly spinning a wheel and just waiting for you to earn him as a Follower. This guy is a very obvious reference to the notable fictional hero Conan the Barbarian. To earn Croman as a Follower, simply speak to him and lead him through the instance with you. Don't worry about this guy rushing into battle, he knows what he is doing.

The Hobbit

In Spires of Arak three ogres can be found around a campfire. Their names; Toom, Wullim, and Bort. Sound familiar? They should! This seems to be taken directly from the scene in the Hobbit in which Bilbo and the Dwarves get captured by three trolls named Tom, Bert, and William.

Starcraft II

A nod to Starcraft II can be found in Talador. After completing the quest Powering the Defenses (picked up from Soulbinder Tuulani), players will be given the quest: We Must Construct Additional Pylons. This quote is infamous in the game, coming from the Protoss after reaching the current limit on units in game, and the bane of every Protoss player.
