It is hard to believe but 2010 is almost over and soon we will be
ringing in a new year hopefully surrounded by friends and family either
in game or out. Big things have happened in World of Warcraft in 2010,
the 12 million subscriber mark was reached, the Lich King was defeated
only to have another take his place, and finally the biggest happening
so far this year came most recently with the release of possibly the
most anticipated expansion ever; World of Warcraft: Cataclysm.

2010 has certainly been a great year, at least in World of Warcraft and
we as players can only hope that 2011 will be just as fun filled and
exciting. But there is always the chance (albeit a slim one) that
things might start a downward spiral of doom. You just never know what
will happen until the time comes, but it sure is a lot of fun to make
some guesses about the future, no matter how outlandish they may be.

So without further adieu here are some of my personal predictions for
World of Warcraft in 2011:

With Cataclysm’s
popularity not only will it bring back old players to the game, but
also imitate new players into World of Warcraft enabling Blizzard to
reach the mega milestone of 15 million subscribers by the end of 2011. Deathwing will be released
as an official boss and will like the Lich King before him cause the
downfall of more guilds than can be counted causing Blizzard to
eventually nerf the encounter until it becomes so easy it’s
almost silly. Very close to the end of
2011 Blizzard will officially announce that a new expansion pack for
World of Warcraft is in the works due to be released sometime in
2013.

style="border: 0px solid ; width: 197px;">
Malfurion
Stormrage’s arms will finally get tired and the vortex in
Darkshore will be unleashed, further ripping apart the already
brutalized zone. Blizzard will finally
recognize the sheer awesomeness that
is me and name an item after me in
game. Not just any item mind you, but something super amazing like the
Sword of a Thousand Truths. Blizzard will continue to
pretend that Blood Elves never happened leaving Ghostlands and other
zones associated with them to rot. Over half the character
population in World of Warcraft will be playing either a Goblin or
Worgen. At least 1,000 new Night Elf
Hunters will be created with the name Legolas or some variant of the
name. The players who created these characters will think they are
being “original” and “creative”. Having been parodied on both
the Simpsons and South Park World of Warcraft’s next TV
appearance will be the popular adult cartoon Family Guy. After the initial excitement
of Cataclysm wears off and players begin to seriously raid or PvP much
QQing will take place on the forums leading Blizzard to buff most if
not all classes. Everyone will then of course decide that every other
class but their own is simply overpowered leading to more QQing than
before and everyone will get hit with a giant nerf stick leaving things
looking much like they did in the first place, but giving everyone the
impression that something has actually changed. Garrosh Hellscream will be
taken out Julius Caesar style by the
leaders of the various Horde
factions in one of the last major content patches of the year. His
final words will be “Et tu, Thrall?”.

Archbishop Benedictus will
be thrown out of Stormwind, not for conspiring with the
Twilight’s Hammer, but for being a little too friendly with
young Alliance boys. Baine Bloodhoof will have a
sordid affair with an unknown Worgen, and will unknowingly create a new
super race of Worgen/Tauren hybrids. Bolvar Fordragon will begin
to lose his grasp on reality, the evil that are the powers of the Lich
King will corrupt his mind and once again the undead armies of the Lich
King will march possibly joining forces with the dragon Deathwing. Blizzard will continue to
incorporate new functions into their standard U.I. bringing the need
for outside mods (aside from Playscore!) to an all time low. By the time you finish
reading this, you will have bookmarked TenTonHammer.com/wow as your
favorite World of Warcraft community site

Will any of the above predictions come true? Maybe or maybe not. All we
can really do is wait and see what 2011 will bring. Regardless of if
any of these predictions turn out to be true, I have confidence that
the journey to find out will be a great expereince either way. In
closing we here at Ten Ton Hammer hope that your New Years clebrations
are safe and turn out to be truly epic!
