Don't abuse the privileges
It caused a stir when it was unveiled at BlizzCon, but the idea of paid character customization is still moving forward to World of Warcraft. This feature will allow you to change various decisions made during the character creation process - though which things are not fully decided yet.
Many fans feared that Blizzard was looking at this service as an additional way to make money over and above subscription fees. But that is not the case. Here is Blizzard's rationale for having it be a paid service.
We asked whether the feature was more about making changes to decisions made in the past than adding additional options, and associate producer Lee Sparks said that it was.
"Yeah, and I think the reason for the monetary expense is more of a barrier so that people don't do it every day," Sparks said.
"We want to give you the ability to do this, but we don't want you to do it all the time time. The same thing goes for paid character transfer, we don't want people bouncing back and forth.
In essence, there's a place for second chances, but you really should be able to make up your mind eventually about the basics of your character.
