Upgrade your CD-Roms now!
When World of Warcraft's latest expansion, Wrath of the Lich King, comes out later this year, you better have a DVD-Rom drive in your computer. That's because the game will be releasing on DVD format only, with no plain CD's available.
According to a moderator post on the official WOW forums (via WoW Insider), Wrath of the Lich King, the game's latest expansion, will only ship in the DVD format. Anyone without a capable computer will have to either upgrade or wait for the content to be released in digital form. And a warning: If you want to play the expansion on launch day, don't take the latter route. The Burning Crusade wasn't released digitally until a few weeks after the retail version.
Luckily, DVD drives are relatively inexpensive to what they were a few years ago, if you need to upgrade.
