Thanks again to Katie for finding the numerous spelling errors in the column yesterday. Katie, you're a peach!
I've been a bit harsh on one of the Vanguard: Saga of Heroes devs lately, but it was straight up truth. Delivering the truth isn't easy, but sometimes there are perks like this gameplay video direct from the beta. Check it out.
Hats off to Square Enix and PlayOnline for terminating 1400 accounts that were using third-party tools and encouraging real money trading. When a company takes a $250,000 a year hit to their revenue to remove gold farmers and exploiters it should tell you how important this issue is.
For some reason late August and early September always seem to bring a flood of e-mails asking if the TenTonHammer.com staff and readers will be having a "Meet and Greet". We had one last year that happened to coincide with a chess tournament we were running on our chess site. Our EverQuest 2 readers picked up on it and in the end, on short notice we had 20 or so EverQuest 2 players appear in Las Vegas for a few drinks and some face time.
Would we do it again? The answer is that we never really planned to do it the first time. It just happened. If we had enough interest to cover the costs then we would likely put something together.
We still need more beta testers for our World of Warcraft add-on. It feeds our database and is building the information for our census system. Soon you will know the population of your favourite WoW server without visiting a site that is filled with gold ads. Huzzah!
Post a comment at the bottom of this blog. If you are shy (or female and sending in naughty pictures) you can E-Mail me.
Every good guild needs a home. A home free of gold ads, secondary market farmers. Look no further than GuildPortal.com.
As always, thanks for visiting TenTonHammer.com,
