WoWHead the database of choice for many World of Warcraft players has been purchased by the folks who own Allakhazam, Thottbot, OGaming....you get the picture.
Though they claim that they are no longer in the Gold Farming business I personally find it very hard to believe. There is no public information proving that Affinity Media sold IGE. There is no public information proving that if they did sell it that they sold it outside of their own umbrella of companies.
The good folks at Allakhazam and WoWHead can claim that they don't work for gold farmers, but the community needs some proof. An uneaten chocolate eclair sitting in a pile of garbage is still garbage.
TechSoapbox has the best take on the sale that I have read.
"IGE has been âsupposedlyâ sold off by Affinity Media. They used FUD when they purchased OGaming. They used FUD when they purchased Allakhazam. Just some more FUD - rest assured IGE/Affinity Media are still very connected.
The FUD doesnât end. Remember - I sold OGaming to IGE, while they claimed it was âRPG Holdingsâ that purchased it. Iâve experienced it firsthand. I talked to another contact - it is a bit byzantine (how the site was âsoldâ), but as it stands, IGE US LLCâs parent company is Affinity Media. Certain properties may have been sold, but not the company itself."

Our WoW database needs an enema. OK, it really just needs a better interface. We have all of the data that the rest have, but getting to it is like kissing Rosie. You could do it, but who'd want to?
