This section provides some great spots for hunting. Whether you are a
quester or a grinder, this will let you know where you need to be to advance
your character's levels.
Keep in mind that this is all based off of personal experience. These
happen to be some of my favorite hunting spots! If you have some that you
would like to add, feel free to let me know.
In addition to the great advice below, we have our Tier Leveling Guides that give more detailed ideas as to where to hunt and play for each tier.
Levels 1-8
Bruiser are an evil class, so they will start out on the Outpost of the
Overlord, in the Darklight Woods, or in Timorous Deep. During your early levels in the noobie areas, you will want to
complete the armor quests, the collection quests, and some of the other little miscellaneous
quests. By the time you complete all these, you'll likely be leveled up
enough that it will be time to find your way to the bigger areas, but you'll still want to stick close to the starting area.
Levels 8 - 15
Once arriving in your racial village of choice, it's always a good idea to
hit up your racial mentor for whatever quests they have to give. These
generally give up a few small items that will be useful to you.
Hunting in the areas surrounding Freeport, Neriak, or Gorowyn will be far safer at this level
than heading out to the Commonlands, so stick with the Ruins, the Sunken City or out in Darklight Woods or Timorous Deep. Once you've outgrown these areas, around level 10-12, the areas
nearest to the Freeport gates, and the docks are your best bet.
For grouping, either the Ruins or the Wailing Caves in the Commonlands are a
great place for experience and loot.
Levels 15-20
These are the levels in which you will want to explore around the Commonlands.
There are plenty of Orcs around, and if you have picked up the Orc Lore and
Legend, you can get that done while you level.
For grouping, the Fallen Gate and around the Ruins of Val'Marr are very nice
spots.
Levels 20-30
Head into the Nektulos Forest for this level range. This zone is huge
and there is so much to do for solo, duo, or group play. And if you
have picked up the Bloodline Chronicles (EQ2 Adventure Pack), this is also found
in Nektulos Forest, and has some great content for these levels.
Levels 30-40
My favorite hunting grounds at this level is by far, the Enchanted
Lands. I've always been more fond of the vast outdoors zones for gameplay,
and there is lots to do in the way of quests (look around by the docks!), solo
mobs, and heroic mobs. For more intense grouping, venture into Rivervale
or the Runnyeye. Zek is also great for this level range, and includes all
the same features as the Enchanted Lands, with the fabulous group zone of
Deathfist Citadel.
Levels 40-50
Everfrost, Lavastorm, and the Feerott are all wonderful zones for these
levels. For challenging grouping fun, Permafrost (found in Everfrost),
Cazic-Thule (inside the Feerott) and the Obelisk of Lost Souls (also found in
the Feerott) are great locations.
Levels 50-60
To be able to advance past level 50, you will need the Desert of Flames
expansion. With this, you will find some fun and interesting zones to
while away the hours in. Sinking Sands provides plenty of solo opportunities
starting in your upper 40s. The Pillar of Flames has both solo and
grouping areas that are easy to navigate, my favorite areas being with the
harpies. For good grouping, head into the Clefts of Rujark, Silent City,
or the Living Tombs.
Levels 60-70
Again, another level range that can only be reached through the addition of
an expansion. Kingdom of Sky raises the level cap to 70, and adds a
plethora of new zones. For the upper 50's and low 60's, soloing content
is plentiful in the Tenebrous Tangle zone of islands. For grouping, you'll
want to check out the Sanctum of the Scaleborn and the Temple of the Scale.
Through the mid levels, the Barren Sky or Bonemire are where you want to be,
with nice grouping zones being the Palace of the Awakened, the Nest of the
Great Egg, and the Halls of Fate.
Levels 70-80
In order to progress this far you'll need to have the Rise of Kunark expansion on your account. In the last 60s you can make your way to the Kylong Plains dock and do many of the quests there. With a group you'll want to check out Karnor's Castle, but the RoK dungeons are tough places so don't be discouraged if you bite it the first few times in.
As you level up you'll want to explore Fens of Nathsar, Kunzar Jungle, and Jarsath Wastes. There is a lot of tier 8 content, so take your time and get to know these amazing lands!
