Getting a Grip on the Griffin

Why Bloodtalon Makes People Cry

In the eastern plains of the Thunderring Steppes, lies a powerful
beast that flies gracefully above the landscape.   This
mighty griffin owns the land surrounding him, and watches over his
domain aggressively protecting his home.   This graceful
peace is frequently cut short by the cries "OMG! There he is!  Go!
Go! Get him!"

Bloodtalon the Griffin. I'm not even sure where to
begin.   This beast is required as part of the Dwarven Work
Boots heritage quest and is by far the most difficult part of the
quest.  I've literally watched an entire DVD of Farscape in the
time it took this thing to spawn.   What is the big
deal?  It's only one quest creature?  To gain an
understanding of this you must look at the Dwarven Work Boots heritage
quest.

Now this quest starts you off with something light, like all good
quests, by harvesting 100 stone and 100 wood.  No problem there at
all.   At one node every 3 minutes that should only take
about....forever.  Especially considering no one competes for rock
nodes to get rares (although this is less of a problem after
LU#17) . Now that you've gathered all this wood and rock, lo and
behold, he needs special wood from a tree monster in
Stormhold.   Just act politely and I'm sure he'll let you
tank a chunk of him.  He'll also send you to slaughter gnoll
miner's in Blackburrow before moving on to the last piece, the mighty
Bloodtalon.

What I have found really amusing over the months is the strange
rumors and tales that are told involving getting Bloodtalon to
spawn.   Some are as simple as "I just killed every Griffin
and Griffawn I found" to "Ok, so I killed a named giant while he was
standing on a rock but he has to be facing east."

The most popular tale I've heard, is the killing of a Centaur
named Captain Duranus.   This poor beast has been slaughtered
a gillion times in desperate hopes to spawn the beast or if nothing
else "to be safe."  The League of Endangered Named Creatures is
very disappointed in all of you. This gentle creature is misunderstood so why can't we all just get along?

The absolute strangest tale I've heard, was from a crazy Paladin I
saw hunting out there one day.   He swore that his group had
harvested all the nodes in Bloodtalon's area and it had caused him to
spawn.   "Especially the roots" he reminded as he
galloped off into the Thunderring Steppes sunset mumbling about
"windmills."

At the end of the day I can't really say too much more about this
creature other than I found watching the Disney channel more exciting
than waiting on this thing to spawn.  The best advice I can give
you is to kill the Mighty Griffons, the Majestic Giffons, and bring a
really good book.
