Overview Minimum Level Connecting Zones Quests Soloing Opportunities Grouping OpportunitiesAtop a jagged mountain within the gloomy Loping Plains sits an ominous fortress. Surrounded by hordes of undead, wolves, and other things which will happily eat your face, it's another piece of nostalgia from EverQuest 1.
If you don't remember this zone, Mayong Mistmoore is an ancient dark elf vampire. He got on the bad side of Innoruk by having an affair with Lanys T'Vyl. Having ascended to godhood he now controls the land around him and is surrounded by an army of powerful followers.
The minimum level for this zone is 70. Yes there is always the "Well my friends who raid 7 days a week took me in there and I was only 68." If this is you? Great, otherwise be 70 or bring repair kits. This is hands down the most difficult contested dungeon in the game so please don't walk in wearing T6 (yes T6) mastercrafted either.
There are actually two ways to enter Castle Mistmoore, the most obvious being the front door in Loping Plains. Fight your way up (or run for your life if you don't have invis) the long stairway past a dozen 72^^^ gargoyles and you'll be in the starting area.
The more fun way is to fight up in the Mistmoore Catacombs and use the stairwell which takes you to the second floor of the castle.
This zone also contains the Mistmoore Inner Sanctum, an Epic X4 instance containing Mayong himself.
Flowing Cape of the Dark Lord - This final quest in this Signature series requires the death of a 75 Epic X2 in this zone.
Deity Quests - Rallos Zek requires vampires to be killed in this zone.
Infiltrator in the House of Mistmoore - This quest starts in Loping Plains after you've completed one called "The League." Use the League of Freethinkers whistle to summon Brand and hail him (he's near the castle around 680, 105). He'll ask you to explore the castle.

The Main Hall
The Altar Area
The Basement Stairwell

The Right Tower (1st Floor)
Retrieve papers from Caitiff's Chest (clicky in the right tower)
Return to Brand. Reward: +1500 Freethinkers Faction
The Wind of Strife Blows Fickle - Brand has more for you to do. He wants you to sneak into the guest quarters to gather evidence. It's easiest approached from Mistmoore Catacombs but by all means feel free to approach from the first floor. You'll need to find an auto update and a few clickys. Reward: Cash and +2000 Freethinker Faction.
Experimentation Most Foul - This quest will start from Monika Davissi in the Castle Mistmoore basement (around 0, -41). She'll send you for some clickys in the nearby jail, and then you'll be asked to escort the captured elf out of the castle. Fun, fun. Reward: A choice of earrings which have a 2% chance to melee or spell critical. +2500 Freethinker Faction.
Shoruded in Secrecy - This is the final quest and begins with Chardasus Divok in Somborn. You'll be sent to the library to read, then to Monika then back to Chardasus. Finally you get to actually hunt down and kill Monkia. She's a 75^^^ so don't expect to solo her. Reward: A choice of wrists which have a 2% chance to melee or spell critical. +3500 Freethinker Faction.
There are a few level 72ish solo vampires at the Loping Plains entrance if you are just killing time (or doing the above mentioned Rallos Zek deity quest). The aggro range is enormous and it won't hold your interest long.
There are a dozen spots to camp for experience all over this zones 3 levels. The piano room if you are less adventurous, or the basement for those who know exactly what is going on. Experience is plentiful and challenge can be high.
The difficulty of the zone is a double edged sword though. While there is amazing loot, some great quests, and fun to be had it is very difficult to find groups at times. If you are fortunate enough to pull together one, pick a spot and you'll most likely be satisfied.
I hope you enjoyed our walk through of Castle Mistmoore! If you have any questions, comments, or additions please feel free to e-mail me!
