It's Rain Caller, and if you are a scout of COURSE you want it for it's ubernessity. This is a level 60 quest, so to begin you'll need to find Master Bowyer Mossberge in Kelethin. Yes evil people, I said Kelethin. The guards should be a mostly non-issue by the time you are able to do this quest. Mossberge is found inside Tunare's Pages (the tradeskill area) on the 2nd floor (loc 458, 97, 358).
He'll first send you to the Loping Plains to find the source of the Long Draw River. There is only one river in the zone, so follow it past all the bandits, dodge the crocodiles, until you hit the stone wall at the end. You'll find a 52^^^ Heroic wounded werewolf. Taking pity on this wretched creature you'll beat him down mercilessly, and Ranger Oast will spawn. Hail him and be on your way.
Your next stop will be in Lesser Faydark at the Wu Encampment towards the northwest portion of the zone. Just west of the encampment, near the wall, you'll find Captain Trueshot (940, 0, -179) who will instruct you on what to do. Help him create a Rain Caller? Sounds easy enough, so get to collecting the materials.
The resources can be gotten in any order, I'm just listing the order they are in the quest journal.
First, you'll need a spool of dwarven wire which can be bought from Mender Horon Bronzethumb (-260, 0, 90) at West Fort Irontoe in Butcherblock Mountains. Should be cake right? Absolutely! You just need 10k faction with them and he'll be happy to sell it to you. You...don't have 10k faction do you? Get to slaughtering kobolds if you are high level, these give 100 faction each towards Irontoe. If you are lower, there are quests from the Irontoes NPC's that might speed it up.
You might want to start the last piece of this at the same time you do this step so read below. Next, you'll need two perfect micro servers. These are semi-rare drops off the clockworks in Klak'anon. No, not the simple ones up front, I mean the harder ones in the back, WAY in the back. You'll know you're killing the right ones when you see the message that you did not get a quest update. It takes a few, but you will get those micro-servers!
Third, you'll need a bough of Moonlight wood. It's from Moonlight trees, duh. You don't know where Moonlight trees grow? Neither did I. Head towards New Tunaria in Greater Faydark, and north of the zone in, go up a fallen tree to the cliff's edge (loc -1008, 115, 425). Important note, I've heard rumors you need a high foresting skill to get the update. Another important note, they only appear in the middle of the night and despawn at 4:00am game time.
Finally, you'll some gold fairy dust. Princess Saphronia will give you a quest that will net you some. All you need to do is get a powersource for Sir Gearheart. A powersource that drops off the last mob in the Court of Innovation inside Klak'Anon. The instance itself isn't that tricky, but the last mob has thrown people for a loop. Killing King Klak'Anon will make him morph into Mechnamaxiumus. Killing Mechnamaxiumus will drop gear you need to retrieve (it drops on the ground under the mobs remains and is very tiny!). Use it on the Master Protocol to activate and kill him. Examine the gear to break down his shield and the power source is yours! Take it back to the Princess to get your dust.
You've got all the resources so it's time to assemble the bow. If you did the last step last, you are already in Kelethin so find Master Bowyer Mossberge again and he'll make a Trueshot bow for you. Of course it needs a “special enchantment” to make it a Rain Caller so you'll need to find Fethinal the Enchanted in Greater Faydark (-835, 71, 540). He's actually inside the tree, so look carefully and when you find him, he'll imbue your bow.
Your journal now instructs you to carry your Rain Caller back to Captain Trueshot in Lesser Faydark. When you hand him the bow, he won't be able to use it because apparently it was imbued just for you (didn't you people see Blade?). It's up to you to save the day! Time to kill some Dragoons like another Heritage Quest.
First, you'll find Dragoon V'Riv in Butcherblock Mountains. He spawns near the future Estate of the Unrest (-300, 700). He'll be gray at 70 (all the dragoons are level 58^^^) but is still a tough cookie. Once he is just about dead, you need to use your bow to get your update. If you don't use it at the right time, he resets and you have to kill him again!
Next up, Dragoon K'Geth can be found in Lesser Faydark around (198, 15, -277). He's up on top of one of those ginormous roots. Same song and dance as the last dragoon, be sure to use that bow at the right moment!
Now that you've dropped those Dragoons, only the leader of the unit must be dealt with. Dragoon Captain K'Venx (loc 322, 1, 559) is in Lesser Faydark. You'll head to the Shadowed Grove. Make your way left around the edge of the zone until you find a root. Climb up it to a ledge and the Captain will spawn. Once he's dead (killed in the same manner as the previous dragoons) head back to Captain Trueshot.
Sigh...it's all over now and...what? Captain Trueshot is a vampire! I'm SO tired of being tricked in this game! Time to beat his butt. When you kill him and his friends (*note: At level 75 the game forced me to level 70 to kill Trueshot, a level 60^^^.) Huntsmaster Viswin will show up bellyaching you ruined something and takes your bow. THEN he sends some direwolves to attack you. It's time for an epic fight, level 60 epic X2 to be specific. Take your mini-raidforce to the steps of Castle Mistmoore and end this. Congratz, you've got your Rain Caller!
