What are City Tasks (aka
Writs)?

City Tasks are quests offered by various NPCs in
Qeynos and Freeport that allow patrons to earn XP for their guilds (player
guilds) and personal status for themselves. Followers can also do City Tasks but
only earn personal status. To date there are 4 NPCs in Qeynos and 4 in Freeport
(soon to be a 5th in each, offering a tradeskilling writ).

What
is Personal Status?

Personal status is a value that represents your
direct involvement with performing City Tasks. If you do a writ that yields 1500
status points, your personal status will increase by 1500.

How
much Personal Status do I get for doing a City Task?

The number
varies and increases with the difficulty of the writ you have choosen to
complete. So far I have only seen between 1200-2000 status for writs, expect
this number to increase as you level and take on harder
writs.

What is Personal Status used for?
Personal
status is like coin, you can use it to purchase (or supplement a purchase) of
items from City Merchants and various houses and apartments in your cities
(Qeynos and Freeport).

What are City
Merchants?

City Merchants are merchants that
only sell to guild members, the items they carry and prices they offer (items on
these merchants cost both coin and status points, at a reduced coin rate) are
based off your guild level.  There is also a second type of merchant,
Prestige Merchants, these merchants are faction based (or so we think, they
currently only sell a torch).

Where are the City
Merchants/Prestige Merchants?

There should be 4 City Merchants
(in Qeynos proper, QH, EG, NQ, SQ) and 5 Prestige Merchants (one per
faction).  You can find City Merchants in the following places, Qeynos
Harbor (near the docks, above the tunnel to the 'fence') and Eldaar Grove (in
the southern archery shop).

How do I Contribute
my Personal Status to my guild?

It's automatic, but it only happens
if you are a patron in your guild. When you complete a writ a portion of that
status is automatically given to your guilds XP bar. There is an unknown formula
based on the number of patrons in your guild that determines the amount of each
writ that goes to your guild XP bar.  It's something along the lines of
this...

SP - Status Points from the City
Task

NP - Number of Patrons in the
guild

SP/NP = Contributed Status (to
the guild XP bar)

Mind you there is a penalty
involved for less than 12 patrons and more than 40 (or so projected).

How many City Tasks
can I get from each NPC?

You can only have 1 City Task from each
NPC, but you can delete this City Task and choose a different one until you find
one your liking. At this time you can only have 4 City Tasks (total, 1 from each
NPC) at a time.  Yes, there is a bug (it's a bug and will be fixed in the
upcomming patch) that allows you to get more than 1 writ from each NPC, but I
don't see the need to explain it here.

What are the City Tasks I
can get?

City Tasks are based on your characters level and progress
as your character progresses. Doing these tasks will yield both XP for you (from
the mobs) and XP for your guild (from completing the task). Writs are broken
into Tiers based on level, as of this posting we know of 5 different Tiers
(i'm sure there will be more as we level up). Each NPC represents a faction of
Qeynos. Basically, EG - Scouts, SQ - Mages, NQ - Fighters, Temple of Life -
Priests. You will earn faction for doing writs from certain NPCs while loosing
faction with the others. Note: The sum of faction lost is less than the faction
gained, meaning if you do writs from all 4 NPCs your overall standing will
increase with all 4 city factions, and no, you cannot have faction get so bad as
to become KoS or unable to get writs.

How much status is each writ
worth?

The status points awarded upon
completion of a writ is dependant on the level of your guild. style="mso-spacerun: yes">  The higher the level of your guild, the
more each writ is worth in status points.

Is there anything else I can
do to gain status?

Yes. style="mso-spacerun: yes">  Any Heritage quest nets a very large
status gain.  Most aren’t doable
until you are level 25+ however.

How does mentoring effect
which writs are available to me?

If you are mentoring someone, it
still does not change which writs you have access to. style="mso-spacerun: yes">  If you are level 49 and mentoring a
level 24, you still will only have access to the level 45-49 writs.
