Q:
Does the map help with system travel?
A: Yes, and we recommend getting to know it
early on. You can use the map to set destinations, explore regions
outside your newbie area, and use it to manipulate auto-pilot settings
that will allow for safer or more dangerous travel as desired.
Q: Should I use the auto-pilot?
A: It really depends on your goal and how confidant you feel with
you ability to travel through potentially hostile space. For short
and safe distances the time it takes to use auto-pilot is avoidable
(unless you're making a run to the fridge for snacks during travel),
it's quicker just to jump to your desired points manually. For
destinations further away, it is helpful if you'd like to navigate
around low security areas or if you are out looking for trouble and
would like to plow through potentially dangers locations. As you
become familiar with travel, you may rely on auto-pilot less in favor of
quicker travel.
Q:
Where can I dock my ship?
A: Space stations are the most common place to dock, but there
are also player owned stations and corporation locations that will allow
you to dock your ship as well.
Q: How do I find the
station I want to visit?
A: If you are looking for a station in your
current solar system, right click in space and that will bring up a
menu of local stations. If you'd like to visit a
mission agent from a station, use the "People and Places" tab to
find agents of interest. There is also a nifty "bookmark"
feature that allows you to save places of interest so that you may
easily find them later on. To bookmark a agent, right click on
their name and choose "bookmark" or bookmark locations using your
map.
Q:
What are wormholes and how do I use
them?
A: Wormholes are an exciting addition that was
introduced with the Apocrypha expansion. Wormholes are space rifts
that allow for quick travel between any two given locations, but can be
very unstable and unpredictable and you won't know where you are going
until you get there! For more information on wormholes, visit
this
guide.
