Online Heists in GTA 5 are a big deal. They require a great deal of skill, preparation, communication and even a little starter cash to get off the ground. If you can pull them off though, they offer the largest payouts of any activity in GTA Online especially if you manage to complete one or more of the bonus Challenges along the way.
Aside from making sure you are well versed in the mechanics of GTA V: I.E. Driving, Shooting, Running and Flying. There are several specific things you can do to improve your odds of successfully pulling off a heist and getting your hands on that dough.
If you don’t have a headset, get one, and if you do have one put it on. Heists are completed by teams, with each player playing a crucial role in it’s success. If one person fails, or doesn’t know what their doing you’re going to have a very hard time of it and will most likely fail. The best way to make sure everyone is on the same page and working together is to talk to each other.
This is not just true for the more action packed sequences of the heist. Communicating well during the planning stages will help get it done a lot faster than if no one knows what the other ones are doing.
At the start of each heist every player will be given two roles to perform by the heist leader. If you’re the heist leader try to assign the roles according to the players stat strengths as well as their personal preference. If a player has a high driving stat, make them a getaway driver, good at flying put them in a chopper.
As a regular member of the heist it’s your job to know the roles assigned to you by the leader, and to focus on getting those done. A heist is too much for one player to focus on all at once so try to just pay attention to your role and do that to the best of your ability. If your teammates are doing the same you should have no problem pulling off the heist in its entirety.
There are no freebies for heists, for each one you’ll be bringing your own gear and vehicles. Gear yourself up appropriately depending on the heist you’re pulling, but always try to pack a few different options in case things go south. Start out using silenced weapons for the reduced police attention and then switch to the heavy stuff when things get hairy.
The same goes for vehicles. Sometimes you’re going to need a speedy sports car, while others you’ll need a tank. Go over the plans with your teammates and decide which ones will do the job best.
Challenges are optional objectives that award a one-time payout when you complete them. They are pretty difficult to pull off, but the rewards are well worth the challenge.
