Level range indicates optimum level range to gain XP from
kills. Resources indicates crafting materials available from nodes and
from hide-bearing creatures in the area - humanoid mobs may drop other
types of items. Mobs indicates the dominant creature types that can be
found in the area, with links to their relevant slayer deeds where
appropriate. Landmarks include named points of interest and deed
locations, with links to relevant deeds.
Delving
Fields: Chicken-play starts here.
Level Range: 5-8
Resources: Light Hides, Copper,
Tin, Rowan
Mobs:
href="http://www.tentonhammer.com/lotro/guides/areas/shire/deeds#wolf">Wolves,
Boars, Shrews
Landmarks:
href="http://www.tentonhammer.com/lotro/guides/areas/shire/hubs#little">LittleDescription: The Delving Fields
is composed mostly of pastoral hillsides spotted with hobbit-holes and
surrounded by good farmland. The troubles of the east have very little
effect on this sheltered, peaceful corner of the world, and the quests
in these areas reflect that - there are very few "kill-stuff" quests,
and much more running around making deliveries. Sandson's
Farm is where players start the chicken-play sessions, beginning with a
handful of local quests and culminating in a series of
epic runs to Ered Luin, Bree,
Lone-lands, Evendim, North Downs and Rivendell. The Wolf Den just north
of Dora Brownlock's farm, bouncing
back and forth between the 2 locations, is the preferred spot for the
Shire Wolf-slayer deed and for the Hobbit racial Enmity of the Wolves
deeds.
Hobbiton-Bywater:
Pie-running starts here.
Level Range: 7 - 10
Resources: Light Hides, Rowan,
Copper, Tin, Tier 1 Scholar
Mobs:
href="http://www.tentonhammer.com/lotro/guides/areas/shire/deeds#wolf">Wolves,
Boars, Shrews, Bears, Frogs
Landmarks:
href="http://www.tentonhammer.com/lotro/guides/areas/shire/hubs#tuck">TuckboroughDescription: These areas lie at
the core of the Shire, with Tookland to the south of the main road and
Hobbiton-Bywater and the Frogmoors to the north. It is when you reach
this area that you will first appreciate the ability to get a mount at
level 5, since most of the quests involve a lot of running back and
forth.
Rushock
Bog: Slug-grinding starts here.
Level Range: 6 - 12
Resources: Light hides, Copper,
Tin, Rowan, Tier 1 Scholar
Mobs: Bears, Boars,

Frogs
Landmarks:
Bag End (29.4S, 71.3W) href="http://www.tentonhammer.com/lotro/guides/areas/shire/deeds#farms">Appledore'sDescription: These areas are more
combat-intensive than the previous areas, with more aggressive mobs and
more "kill-stuff" quests. Rushock Bog is the hot-spot for action, a
prime location for the Slug-slayer deed, home of Krankluk, a level 8
elite troll who wanders around randomly at night, and, at 29.3S, 74.2W,
the location of the wolf bounty (the level 55 quest is picked up in
Esteldin,and the mob only spawns for players who have the quest active).
Greenfields:Golf
supposedly started here.
Level Range: 11-15
Resources: Light Hides, Medium
Hides,
Barrow-Iron, Silver, Ash, Copper, Tin, Rowan

Toads
Landmarks:
href="http://www.tentonhammer.com/lotro/guides/areas/shire/hubs#brock">BrockenboringsDescription: The northeast corner
of the Shire, running along the western banks of the Brandywine River.
The Scrag-dells and Golfimbul's Hole are prime spots for the
Goblin-slayer deed and for the Enmity of the Goblins deeds for Hobbits.
The spiders in the Quarry are the preferred fodder for the
Spider-slayer deed and the Hobbit racial Enmity of the Spiders deeds.
The
Marish: The Shire ends here.
Level Range: 13 - 19
Resources: Copper, Tin,
Rowan,
Mobs: Toads,

href="http://www.tentonhammer.com/lotro/guides/areas/shire/deeds#brigand">Brigands,

href="http://www.tentonhammer.com/lotro/guides/areas/shire/deeds#wolf">Wolves,
Gnats, Shrews
Landmarks:
href="http://www.tentonhammer.com/lotro/guides/areas/shire/deeds#farms">OldDescription: Not a lot of quests
originate here, but a number of them require going here. Narrowcleeve
is a fine place to do the Brigand-slayer deed - cross over the top of
the waterfalls at 34.0S, 66.0W and follow the path up to the
campsites. The Yale-height, a hill topped by stone pillars, is covered
with Harvest-flies and is a good place to complete that deed.
