The
Mathom House is a museum housing trinkets and heirlooms that, according
to JRR Tolkein, "Hobbits have no immediate use for but (are) unwilling
to throw away." Kinda like all the stuff in my vault.
The Mathom Society, located in Michel Delving at the Mathom
House, is one of the very easiest factions to gain reputation with.
Mathoms and Well-kept Mathoms often drop from mobs that drop other rep
items for other areas (in Evendim, Angmar and other high-level places
in Eriador), and can usually be purchased cheaply on the
auction house. Gift mathoms are rewarded for completing quests in the
Shire, and are bound on acquire. Greylond Bottomley accepts Mathoms and
Gift Mathoms, and Eustoma Muddybanks accepts Well-kept Mathoms.
Cooks can craft reputation items in the form of
food. These are also bartered at the Mathom House with
Baldwin Foxtail, who also sells the recipes.
Achieving Friend standing with the Mathom Society allows the
use of their superior study and access to Rue Goodbody's expert scholar
supplies, located inside the Mathom House.
Ally standing allows access to the reputation vendor in the
basement of the Mathom house, where the following unique items can be
purchased:
The rep vendor on the main floor sells the following unique
items (among other things):
