Aye what should a good dwarf wear? A good dwarven ringmail tunic ye dolt!
*cough* Sorry. The Dwarven Ringmail Tunic is a great low level heritage quest to
work on with your friends or do solo for the most part. Don’t let the low level
fool you, this Heritage Quest is worthy of it’s designation.
First, you need to find Captain Irontoe in the Kelethin near 133, 99 who will
ask you to gather war artifiacts (he's so sentimental) from the Battle at
Burning root. You'll find the memorial in the northern part of Greater Faydark
near 300, -55 and you'll need to read it. Now it's time to find some artificats
so take a look around the memorial, they shouldn't be too far away. Once you are
done, head back to Captain Irontoe.
Congratulations, you are done! Yes...I'm lying. *hangs head down* You've
discovered dwarven ringmail design (apparently ringmail armor is unheard of) so
he'll send you to Echo Echo Cavern. Time to visit the Shroom monsters, which are
considerably easier than they were in EQ1. You'll head down to a named goblin
named Turkik (-2, -296) and find a strongbox which you can clicky. Off to Orc
Hill for another strongbox! You can find the Orc Hill one at 294, -140 but it's
locked, so now to find a way to open it. You are next looking for a scroll of
instructions. I didn’t write down the loc myself, but it’s in a tent nearby (at
-254, -182 from what I’ve read) and isn’t hard to find.
Ready to get your sword dirty? Let’s go kill some Crushbone Sentries. You’ll
need 3 auto-updates so just keep dropping them (great time to do Orc L&L and
Language if you haven’t). Once you get your discs, you’ll need to ring the gong
outside the tent where you found the strongbox. Your next mission is to kill
some spies. Some people have reported the spies autospawned, others had to find
clickies. I had autospawns so that is where my perspective is coming from. The
first spy is near the Old Acorn Lift (-175, 15) but you might see a clickable
orc scribbling which will trigger him. The second is near the zone for
Butcherblock (756, -70) but might be triggered by a branch. The final is
actually up in the city and was annoying to find. Use the Old Acorn Lift and
look for a large tree branch you can walk out on. I found mine around (154,
79).
Ok now that you are done with that, back to trying to get inside the box (I
keep hearing Brad Pitt say “What’s in the box?”). You’ll need to see the
Mushroom King for some poison dust. Follow the river in Greater Faydark east
until you find his caves, he isn’t hard to track down. Of course he isn’t just
going to give you the poison, cause that’d be easy. You’ll need to slay 20
Fayflies and collect 10 of his subjects, the brook patch toadstools. So get to
pickin shrooms and swatting fayflies! You can find everything you need over in
Tunares Glade (-238, 359) to the southwest. Head back to the Mushroom King who
will hook you up with a potion and plans to eat the shrooms you just saved. Eh,
oh well.
Ok head back to the strongbox on Orc Hill, sprinkle your powder, and voila! A
note! Don’t…forget…to drink your Ovaltine? This isn’t useful! Surprise, surprise
the plans have been moved. Head to Crushbone Valley and take out your aggression
on more orcs. You’ll need to kill the following:
The last 2 can be a bit difficult so you may need some backup. The Gullon
Brigade Warsmith in particular will be hard to pull safely at a low level. Invis
helps, watch for the roamers, and there is a safe spot you’ll find near him to
pull. The next 4 Orcs are going to give you keys. I don’t know why they couldn’t
just have one key but hey…more killing. I’ve heard different accounts on getting
the next ones to spawn. For me, there were Footmen placeholders which need to be
killed to spawn them. Put in a movie, this might take you a few minutes.
You now need to enter Crushbone Keep to unlock the four chests. The good
news? All 4 chests are in the first room. The bad news? If you don’t have invis,
get to killing. After you’ve opened the chests, return to Captain Irontoe for
your great Dwarven Ringmail Tunic which shouldn’t fit you unless you are a small
race!
