Overview

Welcome to the wondrous world of Klak'anon, brought to us by the expansion "Echoes of Faydwer". Formerly known as "Ak'anon" this place is a graveyard for gnomish inventions gone awry, and just happens to be one of my favorite zones in the new expansion! Who doesn't love the idea of robots that have taken over for the biological beings (gnomes), it's so Battlestar Galactica.

Klak'Anon is found within the Steamfront Mountains, on the southwestern side of the zone. If you chat with some of the gnomes here, those that work for the Department of Gnomeland Security, they might have a few things to say about Klak'anon, and perhaps a quest or two that will lead you there.

 

Minimum Level

There is no required minimum level, but the mobs start at around level 45, so being in your 40s would be prudent before attempting to utilize this zone. Ultimately, this zone seems geared for levels 45-60.

 

Connecting Zones

Klak'Anon connects to the Steamfront Mountains. Within Klak'Anon, you will find a couple of smaller zones. The Court of Innovation, a group instance, and the Clockwork Menace Factory, a tier 7 raid zone.

 

Quests

It seems that there are a couple of quests that lead into Klak'Anon, and I hope to update that info here soon, but I could not find any that started inside of Klak'Anon. If you happen upon any, please send me the info, or at least the starting NPC or item (clickable or dropped), so that I can get them added! Without the quests though, this seems to be a total grind zone.

 

Solo Opportunities

Klak'Anon is primarily a group dungeon, and as such, there really isn't a whole lot of soloing happening here. As with most of the dungeons in EQ2, the front (near the entrance) has solo mobs, but beyond that you will find it all to be heroic encounters. So if you do desire to solo here, I'd suggest you stay up front (but you'd be better off just playing in Steamfront) or that you are high enough level (or high enough skill) that you can take on the heroic mobs.

 

Group Opportunities

And here is where the zone makes a name for itself, being a great upper level group zone. There really isn't a location in here that is a bad spot for grouping! I'd suggest either moving from room to room and clearing everything in your path, or perhaps camping a couple of the rooms and clearing whatever pops, as it pops.

The Court of Innovation is a great place to head into if you have the time to explore and mess with all the little switches and levers that you need to mess with the get anywhere, but it is still a very fun little zone. FYI, don't be fooled by anything that says it's "inactive", those little buggers seem to spring to life darned fast when they need to.
