Welcome to the Ten Ton Hammer Technical FAQs. Should you not find the answer you were looking for, please post it on our forums so we can find the answer for you!
No. SOE's involvement was originally that of a publishing partner, and they have no say over the game itself.
They handle the packaging and distribution of the finished product.
No. The servers, GMs, and billing will all be done through Perpetual Entertainment. In August of 2007, Perpetual also announced they would be self-publishing the game. They were quick to point out, however, that this change really wasn't a change so much as a clarification of each company's role.
Yup. World of Warcraft and many other games are the same way. These games also typically supply you with one month free when you buy the game. There's been no official word on if this will be the case with Gods and Heroes, but it would make sense.
The game is currently in closed beta. According to the mysterious beta tester on the official forums, they're still doing a lot of patches, and there are still areas that
haven't been opened yet. The beta tester has pointed out that the game is progressing nicely, however only those lucky souls in the beta know exactly how far along the game is. Fortunately, we can get a brief glimpse by examining the Beta Journals.
Yes. Unlike many companies which throw out half-finished areas for beta testers to test, the beta testers for Gods and Heroes are being given areas that are nearly retail ready
according to Beta Journal #7.
You can't. As in all betas, there is a Non-Disclosure Agreement in effect. Until that's lifted by Perpetual Entertainment, those in beta can't so much as say they're in beta
without risking getting removed from it.
Possibly. Keep an eye on the official forums at http://www.godsandheroes.com for openings. You will need to register on the site to be eligible to receive a beta code.
Perpetual has not announced an official date for open beta. Current speculation is near the end of summer if all goes well. However, you should be aware that this is the current guess that's being passed around, and not a time frame set by Perpetual.
There has been no official launch date yet, although retail outlets are taking pre-orders with a September ship date.
Maybe. Stores will often make up a shipping date with no official word from the company to get the money out of your pocket faster. These dates are made by the stores, not the
company making the game. Until Perpetual releases an official launch/ship date, the store dates are just guesses.
Probably not. Here are the latest minimum specs we're aware of:
CPU: 1.7GHz
RAM: 512 MB
Video Card: 128MB card that supports Pixel Shading 2.0
For better performance, use better components.
If you're going to upgrade, you can never go wrong by starting with the memory. Just remember to do your research so you purchase memory that's compatible with your machine.
There will only be Windows clients at launch. However, Perpetual is not ruling out one after release.
That depends. If you have one of the Macs with Intel processors, you can get a free copy of Boot Camp. You can find it on Apple's homepage, and it will allow you to run
Windows on your Mac machine, but you will have to reboot to switch between Windows and OS X.
While Parallels Desktop would allow you to open Windows while booted into OS X, it lacks 3D hardware acceleration. In simple terms, your performance would suck if it worked for
the game at all.
