This is the first in a series of leveling guides, being done by Ten Ton Hammer, to make life a little bit easier for you, when you wonder around those unfamiliar zones. You'll learn where to go to get the most effective leveling done, and hopefully will have a little bit of fun and snag some decent loot along the way.

Tier one deals with the lowest content in game, and generally describes the newbie zones that surround the main cities of Qeynos and Freeport. These are the least dangerous areas in game, and are designed to let a player get to know their character and their world.

Qeynos Tier 1 Zones:

The Queen's Colony The Peat Bog The Forest Ruins Oakmyst Forest The Caves The Down Below

Freeport Tier 1 Zones:

The Outpost of the Overlord Thieves Way The Graveyard > The Ruins The Sprawl

Really, the best way to level early on is on The Queens's Colony and the Outpost of the Overlord. Completing all the quests from the islands will easily get you to level 7 or 8. I'd suggest using Slide's guide to the Colony, and Radar's guide to the Outpost to easily get you through the islands. From there you'd really want to do the racial quests. Those aren't hard to find. Your racial mentor will be found somewhere near the dock, talk to them, and do their tasks. You'll get a couple nice pieces of loot, coin, and so very decent experience. This is also a great way to get to know your new home town!

After you have completed those, you might notice that you are still in worn island gear and somewhere between levels 8-10. In addition to making some great experience, you can also score some good gear, taking advantage of the low key and safe atmosphere of those low level newbie zones by doing some of the low level quests around the villages that reward with armor. Check out the low level armor guide for Qeynos and for Freeport, with step by step instructions on getting great armor.

In truth, the best way to level at any tier is through questing, but this is particularly true of the lowest levels. Since the re-vamp of the early levels, bringing us more interesting quests and more variety, you can do these quests and not realize how much time (or how many levels!) have passed. This makes early level grinding completely unnecessary, which is a relief for most of us!

Good luck on your lower levels, and happy gaming!
