Each player has their unique style of play, and to accomodate that,
Turbine's implemented a unique system of traits that players can
customize their characters with. These traits are gained by
accomplishing certain actions, such as defeating a certain number of
creatures or completing a series of quests in an area. When a
player gains one of these traits, they visit the nearest bard and
"install" them on their character. To keep the spirit and
goals of the lore, each type of trait is governed by a principle found
in Tolkiens' work. The traits have a primary benefit, a
secondary and a tertiary power. The primary virtue advances
with every rank, (such as Charity 1, Charity 2). The
secondary benefit either increases by half the actual amount of the
primary, or it advances at the same rate as the primary, except every
other rank. The tertiary benefit progresses at one fifth the
rate, or at every five levels. To find out which category of
trait influences which aspect of the character, follow the table below.

This page will be a living document, as time progresses, each title earned and each trait will be linked to the corresponding quest guide or information that provides more specific information about the trait and attributes. Bookmark this page, it will change frequently.
