Once you reach level 20, it's generally a good idea to take a look at your equipment
and determine if perhaps upgrades are needed.  Lower level armor tends to
start turning gray, and you aren't being protected as well as you could
be.  For mages, the very light armor wearers, stats are pretty
important.  Mages can't take hits anyway, so mitigation is the very least
of your worries, you are going to want those bonus stats!  With the level
20 armor quests, you can get good gear that is tailored to your mage stat needs,
with a lot of emphasis put on intelligence and power bonuses.  It just so
happens, that along with decent gear, the armor quests give very good
experience, and is a very worthwhile endeavor for that alone.

Note:  The piece of gear that you are rewarded, while basically the same
gear, will have variances in stats depending on what kind of mage you are.

Qeynos Very Light Armor

This series of quests starts with Gildas Cedartree (loc +738, -21, -398) in
the Elddar Grove.  For each task he sends you on, you will be rewarded with
a piece of armor.  The tasks get harder as you go, and some may require a
group, depending on your own level and solo proficiency.  You must be level
20 to be able to start these armor quests.

"Gildas' Request - Part I" - Gildas first sends you out to
Antonica to kill 15 rotstuffed scarecrows and 16 Necrosis conscripts.  The
scarecrows are found at McQuibbles farm (loc -1742, -22, -98).  These spawn
in both the solo and heroic variety.  The Necrosis conscripts are found
outside the Condemned catacombs (loc -1062, -36, -1031), and also spawn as
singles and heroics.  Reward:  Gloves.

"Gildas' Request - Part II" - After completing the first
quest, Gildas asks that you complete another task.  You will need to kill
12 granitescale basilisks (loc -1195, 11, -854), found just northeast of the
Oracle Tower griffon station.  Slay Advisor Pandrus (loc -1369, -15, -691),
found in the Ruins of Caltorsis.  Pandrus is a level 21 solo ^.  He's
difficult to solo at level 20, but certainly far from impossible.  The last
part is killing 6 Varsoon apprentices (-652, -3, +729) found just outside the
Ruins of Varsoon in the Thundering Steppes.  These are all soloable
mobs.  Reward: Forearm piece.

"Gildas' Request - Part III" - And now you are off to
Stormhold for the 3rd part of this series of quests.  Gildas requests that
you kill 12 defiled torrents (loc -49, -24, -124), found on the 2nd floor.
Kill 12 gelatinous masses. I was killing the gelatinous cubes found in the room
just next to the torrents.  Kill 8 animated books (-117, -32, -164), found
in the library.  These mobs are all early 20s heroics, so bring your
friends!  Reward: Boots.

"Gildas' Request - Part IV" - Gildas now asks you to make
your way into the Crypt of Betrayal.  There are 2 entrances into the Crypt
from Vermin's Snye, you'll want to take the southern most entrance (loc 7, -4,
-0).  You will need to slay 12 scarabs, 12 restless corpses, and 8 ire
minions.  All mobs are heroic and found scattered throughout the
area.  Reward:  Shawl.

"Gildas' Request - Part V" - For this portion of the quest
series, you will be heading out to the Thundering Steppes.  Kill 15 Dead
River knights.  These are found in the Dead River Basin (loc +183, -12,
+725), and come as solos and heroics.  Slay 12 Firerock giants.  These
spawn on the ledges above the Dead River basin, and I also found these in the
solo and heroic variety.  Finally, you must kill 12 highland stalkers, and
12 mighty griffons.  These are both found in the same area, Thundermist
Valley (loc +1130, -2, -67).  The highland stalkers are solo and pounce all
over the place, the mighty griffons are 25 and 26 ^^^ heroics.  Reward:
Pantaloons.

"Gildas Request - Part VI" - In the final part of this quest
series, you are asked to slay 6 Deathbone berserkers, 12 Sabertooth foragers, 10
rumblers, then find and destroy Celeg Ixuri.  The Deathbone berserkers (loc
130, -22, 753) spawn in heroic groups near the area where you found the Dead
River knights.  The Sabertooth foragers (loc +1216, +5, -320) spawn outside
the Sabertooth Den.  The earth rumblers (loc 886, -16, 1195) spawn in and
around the cave located near the southern coast.  Celeg Ixuri spawns
outside the entrance to Ruins of Varsoon.  He's a proximity spawn when you
have this quest, so keep an eye out when you run through there!  He's a
level 25 ^^^ heroic, and comes with a couple of friends.  Reward:
Robe.

Freeport Very Light Armor

The Freeport version of the very light armor quest starts in East Freeport
with Kirsteh the Witch (loc -85, -35, -21) found inside the Freeport Observer
building.  You will be given 6 quests, each quest ending in a reward with a
piece of armor.  As with the Qeynos quest series, each quest becomes
gradually more difficult and you may require a group for certain portions of the
tasks.  But the armor pieces and experience that these quest yield make
them very worth your while.

Many thanks to Fenriss on Kithicor for his help in this portion of the
guide!

"Kirsteh's Components - Part I" -   The first quest she sends you on is to Val Marr to gather cold grave dust from 18 Fallen Crusaders there.
These spawn in both the solo and heroic variety.  You are also asked to get the tear stained kerchief of Anyanka Polevshi who is located in the same area as the Fallen Crusaders around (542.59, -53.77, 529.91).
She is a pretty tough single up solo mob.  Reward:
Gloves.

"Kirsteh's Components - Part II" -   The second quest gets a bit tougher. Kirsteh sends you to the Fallen Gate to retrieve 8 symbols from Thexian Overseers, 10 tattered prayer books from Thexian Dragoons, and 2 rotting eyes from Gloom Snakes. As you come down the hall after entering Fallen Gate, you'll find 2 Gloom Snakes at roughly (3.68, 4.94, 90.65). Then as you approach the main entrance to the Fallen Gate you'll begin to find your Thexian Dragoons in the area of ( -24.27, 0.00, 45.51). In the same area, you'll find The Overseers. The Overseer is a semi rare spawn and only 3 of them are up at any time, in the area of the gate and the surrounding rooms. Since everything else spawns 2-3 times as fast, you'll have to fight while you wait for your Overseer to spawn.
Reward: Forearm piece.

"Kirsteh's Components - Part III" -  The third quest brings you back into the Fallen Gate. Kirsteh asks that you bring her 6 incantations from the Blighted Denizens, 10 enchanted shackles from the Mindless Corpses, and 8 innards from the Tortured
Raiders. You'll encounter the Blighted Denizens in the Old Market place at (101.45, 7.48, -91.87). You may also find a few Tortured Raiders and Mindless corpses here but you probably find a larger crop of them at (21.42, 6.90, -109.77) around the Pool of Percelia. The Mindless Corpses are
mind numbingly slow at re-spawning so pack a lunch.  Reward:
Boots.

"Kirsteh's Components - Part IV" -  The fourth quest has you going into the Edgewater Drains. You've been tasked with getting 12 Contaminated Rat tails, 10 Murkwater Henchmen whiskers, and 14 vials of caustic fluid from Drudge
Mucus Slugs. If you weren't in need of a group for the last quest, you will most definitely need one now. The Drudge
Mucus Slugs are all over the Edgewater Drains so they'll be easy to find. The henchmen are a bit more
difficult to find and they'll usually be paired up in a group of three. Best place to find them is in the same room as the Garbage Grinders ( 103.47, 32.60, -116.75 ) and if continue through this room and down the stairs there is another group of Murkwater Henchmen at ( 120.92, 17.09, -115.03). After finishing off the henchmen in this room, continue through into the corridor (you're now on the second level of the Edgewater Drains) and the Contaminated Rats will be all over the place, just like the Drudge
Mucus Slugs were.  Reward: Shawl.

"Kirsteh's Components - Part V" -  Tired of sending you underground, Kristeh decides to have you gather some things in Nektulos Forest. This round she asks for 14 Owlbear Beaks, 8 units of Marrow from the Rotting Followers of Grelkor, and 12 units of blinding powder from Nerius Vandals. Nerius Vandals are easy to find as they hang out in the pirate camps up and down the Nektulos Beach, but they are a slow spawn so don't expect a lot of them at once. The followers of Grelkor ar east of N'Marr's ascent at (-548.76, 60.37, -1290.19). They'e all around a circle of mushrooms with a green smoky skeleton in the middle. The Owlbears have been moved over to where the arachneidas used to be at ( -650.03, 60.90, 215.31).
Reward:  Pantaloons.

"Kirsteh's Components - Part VI" - The last quest sends you back to the Fallen Gate and Nektulos Forest for 10 units of bone marrow from Mist Grinnin Savages, 12 Elder Ash Bear livers, 10 withered flesh from the Scavenging Ghouls, and the buried
research notes of Ikara V'Tahl. The Elder Ash Bears are in the same place as the regular Ash Bears from Part V of the quest. The Mist Grinnin Savages are located at ( -161.25, 1.05, -746.48) and are in one large group. The Scavenging Ghouls are located above N'Marr's Ascent inside Camp Leeot at (109, 63, -1450). Ikara V'Tahl spawns in the middle island in the Pool of Percelia with 2
guards (33, 6, -140).  Reward: Robe.
