<p>Funcom’s free-to-play move for Age of Conan pays off big in both revenue and over 300,000 new players.

Age of Conan went free-to-play with Unchained in June and the move has paid off big for developer Funcom. In a new press release, Funcom states that more than 300,000 new players have entered the game since its free-to-play re-launch and the developer has in turn seen “server activity quadrupled” and game revenues “more than doubled” since the move.

In addition to the news of increased players and revenue, the new Conan the Barbarian movie is scheduled to hit theaters on August 18th and new game content will be released to tie-in to the new feature film with the "Savage Coast of Turan" adventure pack.
