Aion's Open Letter Community Address for July has been posted despite the absence of Chris “Kinslon” Hager, who is currently taking a leave of absence. With Aion's recent server merger complete, the team looks forward to solving a new set of issues as it relates to faction balancing between servers. After the mergers, NCsoft had to make a few changes to help balance out the factions as the initial waves of transfers were throwing the new server populations a bit out of balance.

Since then, we’ve been allowing free character transfers so as to resolve any character faction conflicts. However, we soon noticed a disturbing trend. Players were migrating in such a way that caused an unbalanced faction ratio in the servers, negating a primary reason for the recent merge. We had to make the hard decision to disable transfers and revisit our plan.

The Aion team is currently working on a solution for this issue, but for the time being, character creation on select servers has also been limited to the creation of characters for specific races to help ensure balance. A decision like this will not be popular with many players as limiting choice never is, but with any luck the team will have the situation resolved soon and the game will be able to return to normal.
