ArenaNet is claiming a new title for Guild Wars 2 (GW2) today with the help of DFC Intelligence, a strategic market research and consulting firm, which reports that GW2 has become the fastest selling game in NA and EU, topping more than 3 million copies sold in the first nine months.
After triangulating against multiple data sources, its clear that Guild Wars 2 is the fastest-selling Western MMO of all time based on the first nine months of availability, said analyst David Cole of DFC Intelligence. This puts Guild Wars 2 in an impressive position when they release in China, where weve seen similar franchises really take off.
GW2 is next headed to China through a new partnership with Chinese digital entertainment service provider, KongZhong Corporation. Chinese sales are expected to rival those of the West.
For players looking to drag a few friends along, or try out the game for the first time, ArenaNet has also established a free trial program for players to try out the game from August 23rd-25th.
