Author Tom Clancy, who has written several novels and has a number of movie and game franchises bearing his name, has died at age 66. Clancy is known best for novels, many of which have movie adaptations such as The Hunt for Red October, Clear and Present Danger, The Sum of All Fears, and many others. 17 of Clancys novels have sit at the #1 spot of the New York Times best-seller.
Clancys novel and movie adaptations are well-known, but in gaming circles, hes also known for several franchises inspired by his works and bearing the Tom Clancy name such as the Rainbow Six, Splinter Cell, Ghost Recon Online, an online extension of the Ghost Recon series, The Division, and many others.
According to a report from The Baltimore Sun, Clancy died at Johns Hopkins Hospital after a brief illness on Tuesday, October 1st, 2013. Our condolences go out to the Clancy friends and family.
