Bigpoint has shut down a pair of its monster themed MMOGs with the closure of Universal Monsters and The Mummy Online. The two games shuttered on yesterday (Tuesday, October 15th) with a message from Bigpoint on the Facebook pages of each game explaining their decision.
Dear players of Universal Monsters Online,
the time has come to say farewell: After careful thought and consideration, we have decided to shut down the game on October 15th 2013.
As you will have noticed during the past few months, there have been less and less players online to play with and no new features have been added to the game recently.
This is why weve decided to put more effort into the games that already have a large active fan base, and make them even more awesome with the resources we have.We want to thank you for your loyalty and for believing in this game for so long. Hopefully, you can respect and understand our decision.
If you have any questions in regards to your accounts, please dont hesitate to write us using our contact form.
Your Universal Monsters Online Team
You can just swap out The Mummy Online with Universal Monsters if you want to read the other message as theyre virtually the same. For now, the classic monsters have met their demise before Halloween even arrives. Imagine that.
