<p>BioWare’s lore team takes a blow as Lead Writer Drew Karpyshyn bows out of his writing role in the gaming industry.

BioWare's Lead Writer Drew Karpyshyn has announced his departure from the gaming industry via his official website. Karpyshyn has been involved with writing the story for a number of BioWare games such as Star Wars: The Old Republic (SWTOR), the Mass Effect series and several others. Karpyshyn has also written novels pertaining to several of the games, including the more recently released SWTOR novel - Revan.

Karpyshyn explained that he made the decision to leave to allow him to focus more on his novels and other non-video game related projects and he’s currently working on the next SWTOR novel, but Karpyshyn further explained that the move is an essential step for him to take.

My identity has been closely tied with BioWare ever since I crawled into the public eye, and I know it’s a risk to move away from my comfort zone. However, I feel that’s an essential step for every creative artist to take at some point. It keeps us fresh, it keeps us energized.

We wish Drew Karpyshyn the best on his future endeavors. His work will certainly be missed by fans.
