VG247 recently got their mitts around BioWare for an interview, where a figure that most of us will call into question was released -- only 18% of players pick a female Shepard in the Mass Effect series. Now, how many of us have female characters in MMOs? Go on, raise your hands. There are lots of us (myself included in a few games) that prefer a female to a male avatar in MMOs, but the largely console-based audience for this series seems to think otherwise.

Mass Effect isn't exactly a casual game, though it certainly isn't hardcore, so I wonder where the great disconnect is. Do more ME players not live in their parents' basements perhaps?

Check out the full interview for more interesting stats and tidbits on the upcoming equality in marketing for the third game in the series, located here!
