CCP Reaches an Accord with EVE Online's CSM

CCP summons the EVE Online Council of Stellar Management to Iceland and reaches an accord with players following recent controversies.

The last couple of weeks have not been kind to CCP. After the release of Incarna, the community was enraged at the price of new virtual items like a $70 monocle. To make matters even worse, a leaked internal company newsletter indicating that CCP might consider charging for other things like ammo (also called "gold ammo") enraged the community even further, something Council of Stellar Management (CSM) Chairman The Mittani touched on in his recent Sins of a Solar Spymaster feature. A blog following the leaked newsletter only enraged the community even further.

In an effort to calm the unrest, CCP called a meeting with the CSM in Reykjavik, Iceland this week and it appears that an accord has now been reached with the CSM on behalf of the EVE Online players. In an official statement on the EVE website, CCP Senior Producer Arnar Hrafn Gylfason stated, "CCP acknowledges that the reaction following the leaked internal communication could have been handled better. Good communication and trust between CCP and the EVE community has always been a fundamental priority for CCP and will continue to be so."

The statement also states that CCP will be sharing its future plans for the Noble Exchange with players through a new series of dev blogs to help better communicate CCP's strategy with virtual vanity goods going forward. In addition to CCP's statement, CSM Chairman The Mittani also posted a statement for EVE players that details what the CSM discussed and learned in their visit to CCP headquarters.

A video of the meeting between CCP Senior Producer Arnar Hrafn Gylfason and The Mittani has also been posted to CCP's YouTube page and you can check out the embed after the break.
